Igbos Are In Charge Of Nigeria’s Economy – Buhari

by Leading Reporters September 11, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

President Muhammadu Buhari has described, the Igbos of South East Nigeria as the most enterprising people, trailblazing economic feats in Nigeria.

The President said so while conveying his heartfelt appreciation over the honor and reception accorded him by the Government and the people of Imo State.

“I thank the Government and people of Imo State for the very warm reception accorded me during my visit yesterday. It was a pleasure to visit Imo State and to be hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

The president said he was impressed with infrastructural development in Imo State and encouraged his host, Governor Hope Uzodinma to continue to pursue impactful policies that would benefit his people.

“I was pleased to see and commission his impactful infrastructure projects, and to note that he is giving infrastructure the same kind of priority that we are giving it at the Federal level.

“I firmly believe that when you get infrastructure right, Nigerians will mind their own businesses. And the Igbos will especially benefit from this ongoing infrastructure revolution, because, as a group, they are truly the most enterprising.

“There is no town you will visit in Nigeria without seeing the Igbos being in-charge of economic activities. The evidence is there for everyone to see, that Igbos are in charge of Nigeria’s economy.

“It is therefore unthinkable for me that any Igbo man would consider himself not to be a part of Nigeria.

“Let me again say that I was very pleased with what I saw in Imo State, and I would like to assure that I will support Imo State and the entire region within the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The Federal Government will complete all ongoing key projects in the South East, including the 2nd Niger Bridge, and other major highways, as well as the railway lines and routes linking the region with other parts of the country.

South East Group Berates IPOB Over Continued Sit-at-home Despite Cancellation In Imo

by Leading Reporters September 10, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL), has berated the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over its continued sit-at-home order in Imo.

COSEYL, a socio-political pressure group, is the umbrella body of youth organisations in the South-East geo-political zone.

This was contained in a statement co-signed by the group’s President-General, Goodluck Ibem, and Secretary-General, Kanice Igwe, and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Thursday.

The group called on IPOB to fully enforce the cancellation of its sit-at-home directives which the group said were negatively affecting social and economic activities in the state.

It added that observing the order on Mondays will disrupt students sitting for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations.

It noted that families who survive on a daily income would be worst hit, and called on residents of the state to defy the order henceforth.

”It is not a hidden information that our secondary school students sitting for WAEC examinations will be writing English Language on Monday, September. 13 and we cannot afford to have them miss the paper.

”Asking these students to sit-at-home on Monday when other students in the country and other West-African countries will be writing the same examination is the worst disservice anyone can do to our students.

”Many persons depend on a daily income to put food on the daily and such persons are at the receiving end of this order and this is why the cancelled sit-at-home order should be duly enforced,” the group said.

by Leading Reporters June 1, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Unknown gunmen on Monday night invaded the residence of Professor Godswill Obioma, crushing him in what his wife suspected to be an assassination.

“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Tuesday morning.

Crying copiously, Mrs Obioma said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the armed men, prowling in his compound, descended on him and strangled him.

Femi Fani-Kayode@realFFK·1h Twittered “On Sunday, Ahmed Gulak, a prominent Northerner, was killed in Owerri. Threats of reprisals were made. On Tuesday, Godswill Obioma, a prominent Igbo & Registrar of NECO,was killed in Minna. The killers stormed his home, strangled him & left without taking anything. It begins!”

Obioma, 67, was appointed head of NECO barely a year ago on May 14, 2020. He hailed from Abia in Nigeria’s Igbo-dominated South-East region.

The sad incident occurred barely a day after Ahmed Gulak, a top politician of the ruling APC, was assassinated.

“An Indelible Karma Will Sweep Gov. Uzodinma Off Irrecoverably” – Ihedioha’s Associate

by Leading Reporters May 27, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

An associate of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who does not want his name mentioned has described events unfolding in Imo State as sour ones which, according to him is indelible karma that will sweep Governor Uzodinma off irrecoverably.

The source claimed that Ihedioha has a new calling to serve, but this time in the vine yard of God. He said Ihedioha has relinquished politics for the service of God and humanity. “He will never seek any elective position in Nigeria again”. The source vowed.

Recall that events unfolding in Imo State are sour ones that involve blood, and more blood. For a while now, a once peaceful state known for its serenity has become a battle ground between members of the Nigeria armed forces and members of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB and Eastern Security Network ESN.  Igbo-based organizations and personalities from South East are calling for caution in what is happening in Imo State.  Recently, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka called out Imo State Governor in what seems like a lost trust between the two.

While many believe it was a battle for the soul of Imo State from the clinch of the Eastern Security Network ESN, the militia arm of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, one of the associates of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha described unfolding incidence of blood let and insecurity in Imo State as an indelible karma that will sweep Governor Hope Uzodinma off the political circle in no distant time.

Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was removed as Imo State Governor in a controversial way by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.  His party, the Peoples Democratic Party claimed that Uzodinma’s victory at the Supreme Court was a by-product of a corrupt system and corrupt Judges.

According to Ihedioha’s associate, the deposed governor has accepted his fate and has entered into covenant with God.  The effect of that covenant would soon be seen from events that would unfold in Imo State.

“Ihedioha has accepted his fate.  He has left all in the hands of God.  For some of us that know him, he is a man full of gratitude for all that God has blessed him with.  He is not a do or die kind of leader.  He puts service first before his personal interest.  The twist that saw him out of us is the height of political thievery and clear human wickedness.  But he has resorted to the will of God in gratitude for all God has blessed him with”.

“For the remaining part of his life, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ihedioha has dedicated it to God.  He would speak less about politics and more about the Gospel of God.  It was a hard decision for someone of that political stand to relinquish politics for the service of God.

“But you don’t ridicule a man under covenant.  He has done his part by obeying God and God will do His part by honoring that covenant that says, there’s no peace for the wicked.

EFCC Arrests Senator Okorocha, ex- Imo state governor

by Leading Reporters April 14, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Governor of Imo, Rochas Okorocha. Mr Okorocha was arrested by operatives of the EFCC at about 4 P.M. Tuesday at his Unity House private office in Abuja.

Our Reporter gathered that the former governor was arrested after a five-hour standoff with EFCC operatives who trailed him to the location.

The anti-graft agency had according to the Source repeatedly invited the former governor to its Abuja headquarters in connection with multiple corruption allegations against him.

Mr Okorocha, who is now senator, reportedly declined to honour the invitation, a development that infuriated detectives who fanned out to get him.

The politician is currently being interrogated at the EFCC headquarters and it is unclear if he would be allowed to go home today.

Details of the allegations against the senator are sketchy but our sources said they are related to suspected monumental graft during his eight-year reign as governor.
