BREAKING: Stay out of Nigeria’s Internal Affairs, China warns US

by Folarin Kehinde November 4, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

China has voiced strong support for Nigeria following threats by former U.S. President Donald Trump to launch military action over alleged persecution of Christians in the West African nation.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Beijing stands firmly with Nigeria as it continues on its chosen path of development.

“As Nigeria’s comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly supports the Nigerian government as it leads its people on a development path suited to its national conditions,”

“China opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to meddle in other countries’ internal affairs or to threaten them with sanctions or the use of force,” Ning said.

Ning’s remarks followed comments by Trump over the weekend in which he accused the Nigerian government of failing to stop the “killing of Christians” and warned of possible U.S. military intervention.

“If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the United States will immediately halt all aid and assistance to Nigeria and may very well move into that now disgraced country, guns blazing, to wipe out the Islamic terrorists committing these atrocities,” Trump had declared in a fiery post on Truth Social.

He added that he had directed the U.S. Department of War to “prepare for possible action,” promising any strike would be “fast, vicious, and sweet.”

The Nigerian government has consistently rejected claims of systematic persecution of Christians. Responding to the U.S. leader’s comments, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to religious freedom and mutual coexistence.

US govt is Nigeria’s enemy – Sheikh Gumi

by Folarin Kehinde November 4, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

Fiery Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Monday disclosed that the United States government is an enemy of Nigeria.

Gumi explained that US government see Nigeria as its enemy because of the latter’s resources.

Posting on his Facebook page, the popular Islamic scholar recalled that the same US government which allegedly backed late Biafra warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu, is now claiming to be protecting Christians in the country.

He wrote: “The USA government, because of prejudice, and our resources are enemies of Nigeria.

“Yesterday, it was Ojukwu falsely claiming the ‘menace of Arabs and Islam’ in his declaration of war against the nation, only to be embarrassed by the Nigerian Christian head of state and his Christian deputy also.

“Yet the USA was behind him, training the Biafrans. Today, the USA is threatening Nigeria on the same claims as yesterday, ‘protecting the Christians’ as if they were small babies.

“Nigerians, we need to know our real enemies until the tide changes against these white racist evangelical supremacists.

“Thank God, the American people are understanding and getting bored with their rhetoric.”

Tinubu Set to Announce New Ambassadors Amid Trump’s Military Threat

by Folarin Kehinde November 4, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will unveil Nigeria’s new ambassadors by next week, amid the ongoing diplomatic tension with the United States over allegations of Christian killings in the country.

According to the report, President Tinubu has directed the nation’s security agencies to fast-track the screening and vetting of the ambassadorial nominees.

“President Tinubu will announce new ambassadors, and this may be as early as next week, as security services have been directed to conclude vetting immediately,” Arise TV stated.

This comes in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning that military intervention could be considered if the Nigerian government fails to address reported attacks on Christian communities.

It will be recalled that in April, reports surfaced listing some notable political figures, including former Senator Shehu Sani, ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri, and former governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), among those being considered for ambassadorial positions.

In a recent update, the Federal Government confirmed that the list of ambassadorial nominees has been finalised.

Catholic Priest Cries Out: ‘We’re Being Slaughtered Like Cows, Tinubu Turns Deaf Ear, Trump Please Intervene

by Folarin Kehinde November 3, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

A Catholic Priest, Fada Angelo Chidi Unegbu, has backed President Donald Trump’s decision to tackle the alleged massacre of Christians in Nigeria.

Trump had after designating Nigeria as Country of Particular Concern, vowed military intervention to end what he called the persecution of Christians in the country.

The US decision had triggered mixed reactions across the country.

While some citizens, particularly Christians, are celebrating the move, others believe the security crisis in Nigeria has nothing to do with religion.

However, Fada Angelo in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday claimed that himself and others “have been appealing to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu all this while to stop the killings”.

The Catholic priest said they have been reminding Tinubu that he has “all it takes to stop insecurity and injustice in Nigeria, but he paid deaf ears to our pleas”, stressing that “humans are slaughtered daily like cows”.

He argued that terrorists in Nigeria are “walking freely”, while “harmless agitators and protesters have either been killed by the same government or are in jail”.

In another post, the clergy said “if the US comes to our aid, the chances are 50/50, but if not, our doom is sealed”.

“And if the US doesn’t come, who will help us? What are the plans to stop the killings? Donald J. Trump, please come quickly”, he added.

Trump’s Threat on Nigeria is opportunity for President Tinubu to act…

by Folarin Kehinde November 2, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

The designation of Nigeria as *a country of special interest* is definitely an embarrassment to the giant of Africa. It also serves as an opportunity for the Tinubu administration to wipe the religious terrorists out of Nigeria so as to save the lives of Nigerians.

Nigeria has had a history of religious violence dating back to the days when people of Igbo extraction were prosecuted and killed in thousands in Northern Nigeria. It is not untrue to say that Christians have suffered genocidal killing in Nigeria, and continues to suffer such killings till date.

The people of the north central Nigeria particularly the people of Benue and Plateau State including the people southern Kaduna have suffered the latest brunt of religious killings by religious terrorists.

It has been a sad and embarrassing ordeal that remains an abatross exacerbated by the inability of the Federal Government of Nigeria to checkmate the killings over the years.

It is on this note that the President of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is called to step up to the plate and grab the opportunity to eradicate the menace.

President Tinubu should ask the American President, Donald Trump for help towards eradicating the menace.

Too many innocent lives have been lost to marauding bandits and religious terrorists.

Nigeria can be made great again.

Donald Trump Celebrates With Chelsea After Clinching Club World Cup Trophy

by Nelson Ugwuagbo July 14, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

U.S. President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance on the trophy presentation stage following Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in a pre-season match held in New Jersey on Sunday.

Trump presented the winners’ trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James but remained on stage longer than expected. He stood beside James and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, applauding as the Blues lifted the trophy, before eventually exiting the stage along with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Speaking after the ceremony, England international James said: “They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay. He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment.”

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, who scored twice in the match, said he was aware of Trump’s attendance but not his involvement in the post-match presentation. “I knew he was going to be here but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy,” Palmer said.

Trump watched the match alongside Infantino and praised the atmosphere in an interview with DAZN during half-time. “I’m having a really great time,” he said.

In a longer interview aired later on Sunday, Trump referred to Infantino as “a friend” and commended his leadership in global football. “He’s done such a great job with the league and with soccer – or as they would call it ‘football’, but I guess we call it soccer. I’m not sure that change could be made very easily,” Trump said.

When jokingly asked if he could issue an executive order to rename the sport “football” in the U.S., Trump smiled and replied: “I think we could do that. I think I could do that.”

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

‘Vladimir, STOP!’ – Trump Condemns Latest Attack on Ukrainian Capital

by Nelson Ugwuagbo April 24, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt military attacks on Kyiv following a wave of missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

“Vladimir, STOP!” Trump wrote in a social media post on Thursday. “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing.”

The Kremlin has not yet issued a response to the statement.

Trump’s comment came a day after he weighed in on peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine, referencing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s continued stance on Crimea. Trump stated that Ukraine’s position could impact ongoing peace negotiations and reiterated his view that Crimea had been lost years ago.

Trump To Shut Down US Embassies in Africa

by Nelson Ugwuagbo April 17, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

he administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering the closure of nearly 30 American embassies and consulates across the globe, including several in Africa, as part of a broad plan to scale back the country’s diplomatic footprint.

According to a CNN report on Wednesday, which cited an internal U.S. State Department document, embassies in the Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Lesotho, and South Sudan are among those proposed for closure. A U.S. consulate in South Africa is also reportedly on the list.

The document reportedly recommends the closure of 10 embassies and 17 consulates. The targeted posts span across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, with embassies in Malta, Luxembourg, Lesotho, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, and South Sudan specifically mentioned.

The proposal is said to be part of a broader initiative by the Trump administration—allegedly influenced by the Elon Musk-backed Department of Government Efficiency—to significantly reduce the size and expenditure of federal agencies, including the State Department.

The document also suggests a reduction in U.S. diplomatic presence in countries such as Somalia and Iraq, both of which have played key roles in America’s counterterrorism strategy.

Trump sacks Voice of America, other US-owned media house staff

by Folarin Kehinde March 17, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

President Donald Trump’s administration on Sunday began mass layoffs at Voice of America and other US-funded media, making clear its intent to gut outlets long seen as critical for US influence.

Just a day after all employees were put on leave, staff working on a contractual basis received an email notifying them that they were terminated at the end of March.

The email, confirmed to AFP by several employees, told contractors that “you must cease all work immediately and are not permitted to access any agency buildings or systems.”

Contractors make up much of VOA’s workforce and dominate staffing in the non-English language services, although recent figures were not immediately available.

Many contractors are not US citizens, meaning they likely depend on their soon-to-disappear jobs for visas to stay in the United States.

Most full-time VOA staff, who have more legal protections, were not immediately terminated but remain on administrative leave and have been told not to work.

Voice of America, created during World War II, broadcast around the world in 49 languages with a mission to reach countries without media freedom.

Liam Scott, a VOA reporter who covers press freedom and disinformation, said he was notified that he also reported that he was being dismissed as of March 31.

The Trump administration’s destruction of VOA and sister outlets “are part of its efforts to dismantle the government more broadly — but it’s also part of the administration’s broader assault on press freedom and the media,” he wrote on X.

“I’ve covered press freedom for a long time, and I’ve never seen something like what’s happened in the US over the past couple of months.”

With VOA in limbo, some of its services have switched to playing music for lack of new programming.

In an editorial on the demise of VOA, China’s state-run Global Times said that “the monopoly of information held by some traditional Western media is being shattered.”

“As more Americans begin to break through their information cocoons and see a real world and a multidimensional China, the demonizing narratives propagated by VOA will ultimately become a laughingstock of the times,” it said.

Trump Orders Firing Of All ‘Biden-Era’ US Attorneys

by Nelson Ugwuagbo February 19, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he has ordered the dismissal of all remaining U.S. attorneys appointed by his predecessor, Joe Biden.

In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused the Department of Justice of being politicized under Biden’s administration, declaring the need for immediate action.

“Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has been politicized like never before,” Trump stated. “Therefore, I have instructed the termination of ALL remaining ‘Biden Era’ U.S. Attorneys.”

He emphasized the urgency of the move, saying, “We must ‘clean house’ IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System – THAT BEGINS TODAY!”

It is customary for an incoming president to replace U.S. attorneys—federal prosecutors assigned to the nation’s 94 federal judicial districts—with their own appointees. Some attorneys nominated by Biden had already resigned following Trump’s election victory in anticipation of the transition.

Since taking office, Trump has implemented a broad shakeup of the Justice Department, which he has repeatedly accused of targeting him unfairly. Several high-ranking officials have been fired, demoted, or reassigned, including members of special counsel Jack Smith’s office, which previously pursued two now-abandoned criminal cases against Trump.

The Justice Department’s restructuring also led to the resignation of the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, a Trump appointee, after being asked to drop corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams.

Trump’s directive marks a significant overhaul of the Justice Department as his administration moves to install its own leadership across federal prosecution offices.
