BREAKING: Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello surrenders to EFCC

by Folarin Kehinde September 18, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has honoured an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) amidst allegations of money laundering and corrupt practices to the tune of N80.2 billion.

Bello was declared wanted by the EFCC but has maintained that he respects the rule of law and constituted authority.

According to a statement from his media office, Bello’s decision to honour the EFCC invitation was made after consulting with his family, legal team, and political allies.

He said that he had only sought to enforce his fundamental human rights to ensure due process.

The statement reads in part: “The case has been before a competent court of jurisdiction, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello had been duly represented by his legal team at every hearing. It is important for the former Governor to now honour the invitation of the EFCC to clear his name as he has nothing to hide and nothing to fear.

“The former Governor believes firmly in the efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place Nigeria on the path of sustainable economic development; supports the fight against corruption in the country.

“It is on record that he was the first Governor of Kogi State to put in place an anti-corruption mechanism to check graft and ensure that the resources of the State work for the people of the State.

“He was accompanied to the EFCC Headquarters by high-profile Nigerians.

“It is our hope that the Commission will be as professional as necessary and respect his fundamental rights as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Details of his engagement with the operatives of the Anti-Graft Agency will be disclosed later.”

Gov Soludo Sacks Anambra Commissioner of Information, Paul Nwosu

by Nelson Ugwuagbo September 17, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has sacked Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, citing incompetence as the primary reason.

Nwosu, who held the position since Soludo administration began in 2022, was relieved of his duties on Tuesday.

A source close to the matter revealed that Nwosu’s removal was due to his failure to effectively manage his portfolio.

During his tenure, Nwosu reportedly had a limited presence in public engagement, failing to hold press conferences or maintain regular communication with journalists.

Mr. Law Mefor has been nominated to replace Nwosu, pending confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly. Mefor’s appointment is expected to be approved shortly.

Despite his dismissal, Nwosu claimed his departure was voluntary, citing personal reasons.

He stated that he had served for eight years under former Governor Willie Obiano’s administration and continued in Soludo’s government, but sources dispute this claim.

For more information on this development, you may want to check online news platforms or government announcements for updates.

“Nigeria Can’t Depend on Dangote Refinery Alone” – Petrol Marketers

by Nelson Ugwuagbo September 17, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Nigeria’s petroleum marketers have expressed concerns that the country cannot rely solely on Dangote Refinery to meet its daily Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) consumption.

According to Billy Gillis-Harry, President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association (PETROAN), the refinery’s daily production of 25 million liters is insufficient to satisfy Nigeria’s daily consumption of 50 million liters.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recently released a price list for Dangote Petrol, indicating a significant price hike to around N950 and N1,019.22 per liter in NNPCL outlets.

Gillis-Harry attributed the country’s inability to depend on Dangote Refinery to the high cost of its petrol and the limited quantity of supply.

He noted that Dangote Refinery’s production is less than one cargo, equivalent to 15,000 metric tonnes.

Gillis-Harry’s statement comes amid the controversy surrounding Dangote Refinery’s petrol price and the impending pump price hike.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) reported that Nigeria’s daily petrol consumption has surged to 50 million liters, up from 46.38 million liters in July 2023.

This increase has raised concerns about the country’s ability to meet its petrol demands.

The situation is further complicated by the return of smuggling activities fueled by subsidy payments.

Industry experts argue that deregulating petrol pricing and allowing the market to determine the pump price could help address the scarcity and smuggling issues.

However, with NNPCL enjoying sole importer status and advantageous foreign exchange rates, marketers struggle to compete.

“I was duped by man who promised to make me commandant” – Pastor Adeboye

by Folarin Kehinde September 17, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed how his ambition to lead a paramilitary group led to a significant personal loss.

Adeboye recounted an incident from years ago when he was deceived by someone claiming to offer him a prestigious position.

He said the man, who presented himself as a recruiter for a new paramilitary agency, convinced him to invest in the venture.

The clergy revealed this in a post on his X handle on Monday.

Describing his decision to trust the man as a lapse in judgment influenced by his past fascination with the military, Adeboye admitted that his desire to fulfil this role led him to act prematurely.

He narrated, “Years ago, I was duped by a man who promised to make me a commandant of a paramilitary group. This man had been sending messages to me through my secretary for a while, and so, one day, I gave him an audience. He explained to me how a Boy-Scouts-like group had evolved into this new agency, and that he was sourcing for who would lead the group spiritually.

“Normally, I ask God before getting involved in anything at all, but this time, my love for the military in my younger days beclouded my best instincts, and I agreed to be their head. He told me that they needed some funding, which I gave as the prospective head. However, I later found out that the man was a fake.”

He, however, noted that the experience birthed the Redemption City corps and a local police post.

“My desire to be part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God, but God had already purposed for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains as well as a local Police post. He knew the desire of my heart, and He had planned for it to be fulfilled in His own time. I thought that I could bring my desire to fulfilment in my own time, but I was wrong. What I lost in that experience was money, but for someone else, it might have been their life or a loved one.

written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries has addressed online mockery surrounding a recent testimony, emphasizing that the church does not fabricate testimonies.

Pastor Chidi Louis, Head of Public Relations and Media, responded to allegations circulating online regarding a testimony from a church member.

A viral video purportedly showed a member claiming to have disarmed four armed robbers and taken possession of an “AK-27.”

The video had sparked online mockery of The Lords Choosen Church from netizens who have started to create content where they declare unfathomable and silly things and justify it with the term “I am a Choosen”

However, Louis has clarified that the viral video was fabricated.

Louis explained that the woman’s story occurred in a dream, not in reality. He urged Nigerians to disregard the fake video and visit the church’s platform to listen to the complete testimony for better understanding.

The church’s media department also denounced the clip as fake on its platform and urged the public to disregard it. To provide clarity, the full clip of the lady’s testimony was released on the church’s TikTok handle.

Pastor Louis warned, “Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Bloggers often edit content to ridicule the work of God. Most of these bloggers are wicked and devilish.”
