A non-governmental organization, Odyssey Educational Foundation, (OEF) has trained secondary students on building cities on virtual reality experience.
The Program director, OEF, Stella Dennis while speaking at the maiden edition of the virtual reality program stated that the program aim at ensuring that children begin to learn how to build cities in the
future.
Dennis while speaking on the theme: “Electrify the future”,
explained that the student should begin to consider electricity as the base of the new cities, where electricity will
be found everywhere thereby electrifying the future.
“There is need to be considering electricity as the basis for new smart cities development across the nation.
“Most of them may not necessarily become architects or engineers or builders or civil engineers, but at least it gives them the opportunity to learns about electricity is during the research.”
“So we’re calling on government to please help us ensure that most of these programs that we’re doing that not just 100% educational but also helping both technology and making the brain of the child work better and effective because they can actually do a lot with this innovation,” she added.
Mrs Rasheed’s Abubakar from Government Secondary School (GSS) Tundun Wanda on her part said that the students has contributed immensely in creating a future city that they build on electricity.
She said the students might not have problem of power supply because they make the thing with their brain on how to make the city better than what it is now.
One of the participant, Eze Juliet from GSS Kubwa stressed that “with good electricity supply, Nigeria will be a better place to live, and increase the financial income of many business ventures, adding that the supply is gradually declining by the day, So if there is 100% electricity in the country I believe that Nigeria will be a better place.”
