written by Folarin Kehinde

The Police in Kaduna has arrested a bandit who offered to bribe the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) with the sum of N1 million.

According to the spokesperson of the Kaduna Police Command, ASP Mamsir Hassan, the bandit offered the bribe out of the ransom recovered from him by the police at a hotel in Tafa community.

Hassan noted that the divisional headquarters received credible information regarding the presence of the suspected person st Easyway hotel in Tafa town.

He explained that their Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer stormed the hotel and arrested a certain 28-year-old Bello Muhammad from Zamfara State and recovered the sum of N2,350,000:00, suspected to be proceeds of kidnapping.

He said during the course of the investigation, the suspect admitted to being a kidnapper who operates with his gang around Kagarko forest in Kaduna.

Mansir said the N1 million is the suspect’s own share of a ransom collected, adding that a check of his mobile phone corroborated the suspect’s confession as pictures of him brandishing an AK47 rifle in a forest were retrieved.

The statement reads: “On January 19, 2024, at about 2200 hours, the said Divisional Headquarters received credible information regarding the presence of a suspicious person in the Easyway hotel in Tafa town. AFCON: I’m not impressed with your last match – Tinubu to Super Eagles

by Folarin Kehinde January 25, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu told him that he was not too impressed with the Super Eagles’ display in their final Africa Cup of Nations Group A clash against Guinea-Bissau a few days ago.

Enoh made this known while speaking with the Super Eagles players and coaches via a Zoom meeting on Wednesday ahead of Nigeria’s round of 16 clash with Cameroon.

Recall that Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau 1-0 and finished in second position in Group A behind leaders Equatorial Guinea.

“One of the main reasons that made me have this call with you is the chance I had meeting with Mr President yesterday, I went to the Villa for something else and the president cornered me and said, ‘we managed to qualify [for the Round of 16].’ I said your Excellency, that is how we will be going until we win the tournament. And he said, ‘tell our players I wasn’t too impressed in our last match but I know that now that they are off the Group stages, I know they are going to impress me more and more.’ That is what the president told me,” Enoh said.

“The president is actually watching your matches and he is urging you and he knows that there was a lot of consciousness at the Group stages and he knows that from the Round of 16 that they [Super Eagles] are going to be more and more impressive.

“I remembered that in 2022 in Cameroon, at the Group stages, Egypt as a country barely struggled to qualify but that same Egypt went ahead to go and play the finals. I remembered that same Egypt, we won them in the Group stage. I remembered that superlative goal scored by [Kelechi] Iheanacho. I also need to communicate to you the mood back home in the country, Every Nigerian is rooting for you and believing you are going to do it again like the slogan of the NFF.”

Presidency sends warning to Wike, Keyamo, others over non-performance

by Folarin Kehinde January 25, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

The presidency has said that ministers who are not delivering on the task assigned to them by President Bola Tinubu will be sacked.

Leading reporters reports that President Tinubu had appointed and assigned portfolios to Nyesom Wike, Festus Keyamo, Dave Umahi, Tunji Olubunmi-Ojo and over 40 others in August 2023.

But speaking at the opening of the technical retreat for delivery desk officers of federal ministries in Uyo on Wednesday, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy and Coordination and Head, Central Delivery and Coordination Unit, Hadiza Bala Usman, says Tinubu will drop ministers who do not deliver on their mandates.

Usman said the president was serious about delivering on his campaign promises to Nigerians.

While asking for the total commitment of delivery officers and directors of planning in ministries who were present at the retreat, Bala-Usman urged them to get serious with their jobs.

“We must understand that the president is very serious about his promises and that ministers will be assessed, and ministers will be dropped if they don’t perform,” she said.

“You must understand that as ministerial delivery desk officers you are the engine room that will provide that feedback and constantly track ministerial progress and report challenges and bottlenecks to the central coordinating and delivery unit (CDCU).

“As I was saying at the ministry of aviation recently, we will be assessing FAAN on customer experience at the airports; are the escalators, lifts, and conveyor belts functional? How swift is security clearance both for passengers and vehicles in accessing the airport?

“What are the consequences of delayed time of departure for airlines? These are things that everybody can feel and see. When we are talking about agriculture, we want to see our index of fertilizer use per hectare grow in view of the attendant investment that has been made in fertilizer interventions.”

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, who was represented by former Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Olusegun Adekunle, reminded participants about Tinubu’s plan to ensure the active and direct participation of citizens in governance and the role they need to play in ensure that ministries and parastatals deliver on their mandates.

The association made this declaration on Wednesday.

LEADING REPORTERS recalls that an explosive device exploded last week Tuesday, killing at least five people, with several others injured.

President of the association, Muyiwa Bamgbose declared that they have been looking for nine residents of the area since the incident occurred.

He said, “It is now towards eight or nine people that have been missing.

Exposed: Mark Zuckerberg Covertly Secures 1,600 Acres of Hawaiian Land at $187 Million, Constructing a Self-Sustaining Bunker for Apocalyptic Alertness

by Folarin Kehinde January 25, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly constructing an extensive compound in Kauai, Hawaii, featuring a unique blend of luxury and survivalist elements.

The compound, known as Koolau Ranch, is set to include a 5,000-square-foot underground bunker, complete with its own energy and food supplies.

The bunker’s design incorporates a metal door filled with concrete, a feature commonly found in bunkers and bomb shelters.

The project, which reflects a growing trend among Silicon Valley elites for preparedness and luxury, is estimated to cost around $100 million to build on top of the $170 million spent acquiring the land.

This brings the total investment to approximately $270 million, according to Wired.

The project has been shrouded in secrecy since the beginning. Workers on the ranch are required to sign strict nondisclosure agreements, and reports indicate people have been fired for posting on social media that they are working on the project.

Workers on the compound undergo constant surveillance from hundreds of cameras, and military-style security measures have been implemented across the ranch.

The methods to acquire the land also give rise to issues and speculation. Zuckerberg initially hid the purchases of land using shell companies and brokers to disguise them.

Those shell companies are now involved in several lawsuits claiming they pressured locals with ancestral land rights to sell the land or get into a bidding war at auction with one of the richest men in the world.

The sprawling 1,400-acre compound is planned to house more than just the bunker. It will include over 30 bedrooms and bathrooms, two mansions connected by a tunnel to the bunker and nearly a dozen tree houses linked by rope bridges.

The tree houses are designed to provide guests with an immersive treetop experience. The compound also will feature a fitness center, guest houses and other operational buildings.

The county where the compound is being built offers tax incentives for building hurricane-resistant safe rooms, which might partially explain the construction of such a robust structure.

Despite the grand scale of the development, representatives for Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, emphasize their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the ranch. They point out that the development occupies less than 1% of the land, with the rest dedicated to farming, ranching, conservation and wildlife preservation.
