Reps Reject Plan To Increase Jamb Fees

by Folarin Kehinde September 15, 2022
written by Folarin Kehinde

Proposed increment of Jamb registration fees has been reject by the House of Representatives.

The House Committee on Finance on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) yesterday rejected a proposal by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who appeared before the committee on Wednesday, had said given the economic realities, the Board should be allowed to revert to the N5,000 fee from the current N3,500.

But the deputy chairman of the committee, Sa’idu Musa Abdulahi (APC, Niger), said reverting to the N5,000 fee would transfer the burden of operations to applicants’ parents and guardians.

Oloyede had said: “We’re comfortable to be taken off the budget, but there are conditions. One of the conditions for example, when students registered in 2016, we collected N5,000 and that had been on for 5 years before I joined. When we came in, we remitted N7.5bn. We felt it was too much and approached the federal government to reduce the fees. We’ve not added a kobo since.

“I believe we should revert to the N5,000 we were charging. Given the inflation, if we charge N10,000, I’m just giving it as example, nobody will ask the federal government for one kobo. I’m not aware of anywhere in the world, except maybe Finland, that charges as low as JAMB is charging. In Finland, we know that everything is free.”

Oloyede also asked the National Assembly to grant financial autonomy to JAMB and remove it from the annual national budgetary allocation.

On the plan by the government’s borrowing plan, he said: “We’re hearing that you’re planning to borrow billions. We’re all going to sink at the end of the day. If there’s any way anybody believes he can save this country, we should start doing that. The earlier we start, the better for us.”

The committee commended Oloyede for the prudence and transparency in managing JAMB’s affairs.

Busted: INEC, APC Plot To Sabotage 2023 Election

by Folarin Kehinde September 15, 2022
written by Folarin Kehinde

A treacherous plot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sabotage the 2023 general elections has been uncovered.

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has revealed a grand strategy by the APC and INEC to rig next year elections in favour of the ruling APC.

The plot includes; Registering millions of fake voters across APC controlled states nationwide, infiltrating electoral officials with people loyal to the APC and an attempt to nullify the use of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS).

The case of study for this revelation was the Omuma Ward in Oru East Local Government Area in Imo State.

Omuma Ward is the personal ward of Hope Uzodinmma, the APC governor of Imo State whom President Muhammadu Buhari is fond of visiting.

CUPP intercepted hundreds of registered voters document in Omuma ward, which contained thousands of fake individuals with names neither Igbo nor Nigerian amongst other discrepancies.

Firstly, CUPP noted that the Omuma ward in 2014 had about 6500 registered voters in 2014. However, in 2022 despite the insecurity in the local government caused by unknown gunmen which has caused many individuals to flee the local government, Omuma ward now miraculously has over 46,000 registered voters.

The intercepted documents showed thousands of foreign voters with names that are not Nigerian and age as old as 120.

Foreign names like Tyson Carter, Short Fleur, Shaffer Keelie, Stark Jasper, Griffin Eden, Fitzgerald Cade, Hines Briar, Head Cailin etc were passed as registered voters.

Also, in computer generated fashion, most of the individuals were assigned a date of Birth of 1983. This includes old faces of women and old, sometimes old enough to be 70 or 80 years of age.

Most people were also assigned date of birth as old as 1900, 1902 etc. One would expect such individuals to have died a long time ago

Interestingly, the gender of most of the individuals was fake. People who have male pictures were assigned the female gender (F), while people with women pictures were assigned the Male gender (M).

Names also did not match faces, a person called Garner Stella has a picture of a man and the gender of a woman.

These thousands of fake individuals were discovered in just one ward in one local government of one state. One is then left to worry about the number of such individuals in other wards or local government of same Imo State and across the 18 states controlled by the All Progressives Congress in Nigeria.

Also, CUPP intercepted a Court document filed at the Owerri High Court, seeking the nullification of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System in the 2023 elections.

The case was filed since the 14th of August, yet INEC brought it up to public notice.

CUPP has alleged that it is the plan of INEC and the APC government to pre-upload these fake voters as accredited voters in the BVAS machines.

Then they’ll use them to generate fake results at the end of the election.

That is if their back up plan to nullify the use of BVAS so they can continue rigging as usual does not work out for them.

CUPP has call on well meaning Nigerians to challenge INEC to uncover what this plot is to steal their future.

INEC must produce the officials who compromised the BVAS system and uploaded fake voters. These individuals must be arrested and prosecuted according as it is an act of treason.

They called on Nigerians not to allow the plans of the APC to come to pass and to rise up and take back their country.

2023 Elections Not Anybody’s Turn – Peter Obi

by Folarin Kehinde September 14, 2022
written by Folarin Kehinde

Peter Obi has criticized the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying that the 2023 presidential election is not the turn of anybody.

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party took a swipe at Tinubu’s ’Emi Lokan’ comment meaning ‘I am the next’ during the party Leadership Retreat in Abuja.

According to him, religion or ethnicity should not be used by Nigerians to choose their next leader but rather, the people of the country should consider character, trust and competence.

He said, “We will do this retreat now, after the election we will do another one, the election next year will not be based on ethnicity, we have had it before, it would not be on religion.

“There is no place that Christians buy things cheaper, there is no place that Muslims buy things cheaper. It will not be by turn; it is nobody’s turn. It must not be by connection.

“The election next year must be based on character and trust; it must be based on competence.”

Speaking further, Obi said that there is a need for leaders to fight and be seen to be fighting corruption, adding that during his time as the Anambra State Governor, no money was missing.

He said, “If a leader is not stealing, and the family around him are not stealing we will reduce corruption by 70 per cent. I was Governor for eight years, there is nowhere money is missing.

“I am in this retreat to listen, let us put it in writing when we succeed, you must be around to say this is what we have agreed on. Even if we don’t achieve 100 per cent, we must have made sacrifices.

by Folarin Kehinde September 13, 2022
written by Folarin Kehinde

Acting Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety corps, Dauda Ali Bui has asked commanding officers in the nation to maintain neutrality on political issues.

This is as political activities for the 2023 general elections are now gaining momentum across the nation.

The directive was given in reference to the FRSC (Establishment) Act which stipulates the status of the Corps as a public service agency that does not have any political affiliation, but solely established to provide essential services to all citizens, irrespective of their political interests or representation.

The Commanding Officers were however, directed to be sensitive to the plight of road users and prepare to tackle any traceable traffic gridlock that could arise as a result of the aforementioned political activities by ensuring adequate deployment of personnel for ease of movement in form of traffic controls and traffic calming.

He reassured the public of the Corps’ readiness and commitment to making the roads safer at all times and admonished them to always abide by established road traffic regulations.

Obidients Are Offspring of PDP – Sowore

by Folarin Kehinde September 13, 2022
written by Folarin Kehinde

Kenny Folarin, Abuja

The Presidential Candidate, African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has described the Labour Party Faithfuls ” the Obidients” as offspring of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sowore while speaking in a monitored interview by LEADING REPORTERS with Classic FM on Monday noted that the AAC will oppose the excesses of Labour Party as they are offspring of the PDP.

“if PDP is kicked out we expect we will be the ones forming the next government, if the obidient form the next government we will be in opposition against their excesses considering that they are the offspring of PDP anyways”.

Meanwhile Sowore noted that it is up to Nigerians to make him win the coming elections as power resides in their votes.

“if you want me to win, I will win if you want to keep voting for the enemies of the people so be it, but one thing that I want to assure you that our votes count”.

He explained that major political parties should go home first because they do not have the capacity to run the nation, “I can’t vote for any party that is parading themselves as major party candidate because a lot of them cannot win in South Africa”.

Sowore responding to a question on apologizing to Nigerians for being part of the present maladministration noted that it is shame for Nigerians to demand apologies from him as he is not part of the present maladministration but has been fighting for justice for Nigerians.

” I haven’t changed since I became a public figure, Nigeria is one of the country that people as you to apologies to thieves, what I have ever done in my life is expose corruption, for against oppression, fight for democracy”.

“But here you are you are not asking the people who took monies meant to fight boko haram and distributed it for election, people who took monies for social welfare but you are asking the guy who has been fighting them, jailed and family affected to apologies to people have weaponized you, shortchanging you and criminalize your existence, it’s a shame”.
