Vice President Kashim Shettima has rejected the split-voting arrangement promoted by the Rainbow Coalition, urging supporters to vote exclusively for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Shettima made the position known on Wednesday during the APC presidential campaign rally in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, where he called on party supporters to ensure a clean sweep for the ruling party at all levels.

The Rainbow Coalition, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

However, Wike has maintained that the coalition’s support is limited to Tinubu’s presidential ambition, while members remain free to support candidates of other political parties in governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.

Shettima, however, dismissed the arrangement, insisting that the APC leadership wants supporters to vote for the party’s candidates across all elective positions.

“APC from top to bottom, APC from bottom to top. We do not want a situation where they say vote for the president and not the governor, or vote for the governor and not the president, or the senator, or the House of Assembly. We want APC straight,” he said.

Shettima also assured the people of Nasarawa State that Tinubu was committed to delivering democratic dividends to the state.
