Bribery-for-position rocks MINT leadership: Tunji Hakeem allegedly dishes N100million to seize MD’s position

by Folarin Kehinde September 13, 2023

There is a new twist to the ordeals of Ahmed Haliru, the current Managing Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria-owned Nigeria Security, Printing and Minting (MINT). Information has emerged that the Executive Director of the Security Document Department of MINT, Mr Tunji Kazeem is not leaving any stone unturned to unseat Ahmed Haliru.

Mr. Kazeem, who joined MINT from the Nigeria Stock Exchange through the help of the former domestic aide to President Muhamadu Buhari, Yusuf “Tunde” Sabiu is said to have so far parted with over N100million to lobbying for the position of the MD of MINT through the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Insider information revealed that Kazeem is currently dishing out information that may help to nail Ahmed Haliru to the anti-corruption agencies and the Department of the State Security Services.

Hakeem is believed to be cashing in on the current predicaments of the current Managing Director, Ahmed Haliru who was brought to MINT by Godwin Emiefele and who was at the fore of the currency redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, under Godwin Emiefele. Information unveiled by this platform revealed that Ahmed Haliru is among Godwin Emiefele associates who have been invited by the DSS to say all they know about the Naira redesign policy, as well as the alleged missing N25billion.

Haliru worked with Godwin Emiefele in Zenith Bank Plc and is the elder brother to the immediate past First Lady, Aisha Buhari. The fortune of MINT went down the drain due to the ineptitude and corruption that characterized MINT under Haliru.
