Veve, a non-governmental organization over the weekend distributed over 200 pads to ladies in the federal capital territory, Abuja to end period poverty and menstrual stigmatization.

Marketing Officer, Veve, Mojoyin Adegoroye while speaking with LEADING REPORTERS at the outreach over the weekend stated that Veve targets about 500 to 1000 ladies to curb period poverty.

Adegoroye explained that the outreach aims at spreading love and awareness but most importantly, eradicate the stigma that comes with menstruation to eradicate period poverty.

According to Adegoroye, prices of pads are currently high and unaffordable by women especially those in the rural areas which would lead to them contracting infections and complications.

She noted that Veve hope to either subsidies the prices of pads or make it entirely free, but if the government can key into this it would be the best as mentruating is not a choice for women.
