The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Mahmood Abubakar has assured over 1700 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in new Kuchingoro of Federal Capital Territory of resetting back to their various homes.

Abubakar while speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at the commemoration of the 2021 World Food Day stated that the challenges of the IDPs are numerous and it is upon the government to make the situation temporary, easy and bearable.

Abubakar however promised that the government will ensure a permanent relocation of the IDPs to their permanent homes but shou see the current situation as temporary.

“We have seen the challenges here and as a government, it is upon us to ensure that we make this situation temporary, easy and bearable for you.

“I say temporary because as it is not easy for you as citizens to be displaced, I say temporary because we are and will keep doing our best to ensure that you are resettled comfortably back in your various homes”.

Meanwhile, Abubakar stated that in order to actualize the objective of the period, the government will not only provide them with food items but will empower them with farm inputs and new farming technologies that will enable them produce their own food within their locations without the need of land mass space.

Leader of the IDP Camp, Luka Yatuma noted that they have anticipated the gestures and now felt the impact of government.

Luka noted that the visit of the minister is apt and timely as it will ease the unbearable conditions that they have been over time.

“This is a time that we have been waiting for and see for yourself in our condition

“We are excited because we feel the impact of government to teach us how to use the supplies”.

Items donated by the minister include Yam Seeds, Olam Rice Seed, Bags of Storage for farm inputs, threacher, sprayers and a host of other farm implements.
