BREAKING: #EndSARS protesters released from Kirikiri prison after 3 years and 10 months

by Folarin Kehinde August 23, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Six individuals, including two #EndSARS protesters, who have been unlawfully detained since October 2020 have been released.

The released individuals—Daniel Joyinbo, Adigun Sodiq, Kehinde Shola, Salaudeen Kamilu, Sodiq Useni, and Azeez Isiaka—had been held at Kirikiri Medium Prison in Lagos.

The efforts of the Take It Back Movement (@TIBmovement) were instrumental in securing their release.

Activist Towolawi Jamiu in a recent tweet confirmed their release and reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the struggle for justice and total liberation.

Amnesty International has welcomed their release, emphasizing that they should never have been detained in the first place.

”Amnesty International welcomes the release of #EndSARS protester unlawfully detained since October 2020. The protesters; Daniel Joyinbo, Adigun Sodiq, Kehinde Shola, Salaudeen Kamilu, Sodiq Useni and Azeez Isiaka should not have been detained in the first place.” the organization tweeted.
