AI may outsmart humanity in five years — Musk

by Folarin Kehinde January 24, 2026
written by Folarin Kehinde

Billionaire entrepreneur and Tesla Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, has warned that artificial intelligence (AI) could surpass the combined intelligence of humanity within the next five years, a development he said would fundamentally alter how people live, work and find purpose.

Musk made the assertion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos during a discussion with BlackRock CEO, Larry Fink, noting that the pace of AI development has exceeded earlier expectations.

“AI could be smarter than any individual human this year,” Musk said, adding that “within five years, it may be smarter than all of humanity combined.”

Beyond software, Musk linked the rapid growth of AI to advances in humanoid robotics, which he said could significantly reshape the global economy.

According to him, Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robots are already performing basic tasks within the company’s factories, with more advanced capabilities expected in the near future.

“If things go well, we expect to sell humanoid robots to the public by the end of next year,” Musk said, stressing that safety and human control would remain critical considerations before large-scale deployment.

On autonomous vehicles, the Tesla boss claimed the company’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software has reached a level of maturity that has prompted insurers to offer “significant discounts” to users of the technology.

He also disclosed that Tesla is seeking regulatory approval to expand supervised self-driving operations across Europe as early as next month, with China expected to follow.

“If regulated and supervised, it will be widespread,” Musk said, reiterating his vision of a future dominated by driverless vehicles and significantly reduced road accidents.

Shortly after his remarks, Tesla announced the launch of its Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, marking the company’s first public operation of fully driverless rides without a human safety driver in the vehicle.

Confirming the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk wrote: “Just started Tesla Robotaxi drives in Austin with no safety monitor in the car. Congrats to the @Tesla_AI team!”

The move represents a major milestone in Tesla’s autonomous driving ambitions, allowing passengers to travel without anyone behind the wheel.

Musk vs. Trump: Billionaire and President Clash Over “Big Beautiful Bill”

by Nelson Ugwuagbo June 6, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

President Donald Trump and billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk are locked in a bitter public feud that has gripped Washington and beyond. What began as a policy disagreement over Trump’s sweeping domestic legislation has spiraled into a war of words, with personal insults, explosive accusations, and threats of economic retaliation dominating headlines.

The conflict ignited when Musk, former head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), publicly denounced Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a landmark legislative package that narrowly passed the House last month.

The bill, championed by Trump, promises massive tax cuts, significant reductions in federal spending, and strengthened border security.

Musk, however, slammed it on X as a “disgusting abomination,” warning that its projected $2.4 trillion to $5 trillion deficit increase would undermine his efforts to curb government waste.

His posts urging lawmakers to “KILL the BILL” put him at odds with Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, who defended the legislation as a cornerstone of a broader fiscal strategy.

Tensions had been simmering long before the public clash. Musk’s 130-day tenure at DOGE, ending on May 30, 2025, was marked by bold moves—slashing federal jobs and disrupting agency operations—but also friction with White House insiders.

Chief of Staff Susie Wiles reportedly grew frustrated with Musk’s unilateral actions, such as issuing directives to federal workers via X without consulting senior staff.

Earlier in the year, Musk’s push to dissuade Trump from imposing widespread tariffs, citing risks to Tesla’s global sales and broader economic stability, further highlighted their diverging priorities.

Trump’s refusal to relent, coupled with Musk’s public spats with trade adviser Peter Navarro, laid the groundwork for the current conflict.

The feud exploded on June 5, 2025, when Musk and Trump traded barbs on X and Truth Social. Trump accused Musk of opposing the bill to protect Tesla’s interests, particularly as the legislation eliminates electric vehicle tax credits.

He escalated the attack by mocking Musk’s loyalty, suggesting he suffered from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and threatening to cancel billions in federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX, a vital NASA partner.

Musk fired back with unprecedented ferocity, claiming on X that Trump’s 2024 election victory relied on his $270 million in campaign support, decrying the president’s “ingratitude.”

He endorsed a post calling for Trump’s impeachment and replacement by Vice President JD Vance, and in a stunning escalation, alleged that Trump’s name appears in the unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files, writing, “That is the real reason they have not been made public.

Have a nice day, DJT!” Trump retaliated by pulling the nomination of Musk’s preferred NASA chief and renewing threats against SpaceX contracts.

Musk briefly announced plans to decommission the Dragon spacecraft, critical for NASA’s space station missions, before backtracking to avoid crippling U.S. space operations.

The feud’s repercussions are far-reaching. Tesla’s stock plunged 14.3% on June 5, erasing roughly $150 billion in market value, as investors braced for potential fallout from Trump’s tariff policies and contract threats.

The rift has also strained Republican unity, with House members caught between loyalty to Trump and Musk’s financial influence through his super PAC.

Representative Troy Nehls called Musk’s attacks “irresponsible,” while others, like Representative Gabe Evans, expressed hope for reconciliation.

In the Senate, Musk’s opposition could tip the scales against the bill, already facing skepticism from fiscal hawks like Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee.

Nonpartisan analyses warn that the bill’s deficit expansion, combined with Trump’s tariffs, risks economic turmoil, potentially triggering a recession by late 2025, as Musk has cautioned.

Elon Musk Resigns from Trump Administration

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 29, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has formally announced his departure from President Donald Trump’s administration, where he served as a senior advisor and de facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk, who was appointed to the role in November 2024, made the announcement on Wednesday night via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that his term as a Special Government Employee had come to an end.

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote. “@DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

Reuters reports that Musk exited the administration without holding a formal conversation with President Trump. His resignation came just hours after he publicly criticized the president’s newly introduced tax bill on Tuesday.

No official statement has been released by the White House regarding Musk’s departure.

Corruption Exposed: Musk vows to sell Tesla stock if UN shows the World how $6B solve world hunger

by Leading Reporters November 9, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.— Elon Musk

The statement from the richest person in the world came after a UN executive challenged Elon Musk and some other billionaires in an interview to help end starvation in the world.

Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, has said he will sell $6 billion worth of Tesla stock and donate the proceeds to the United Nations’ food agency if it could show how the money would solve world hunger.

The SpaceX founder posted on Sunday on Twitter: “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”

“But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent,” he added.

His statement came after UN World Food Programme Executive Director David Beasley challenged Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and other billionaires in a CNN interview last week, calling on them to step up on “a one-time basis” to help end starvation.

In the interview, Beasley said billionaires could give ”$6 billion to help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them.” “It’s not complicated,” he said.

That money would be approximately 2% of Musk’s fortune, nearly $300 billion, according to Forbes.

His wealth and the wealth of many American multi-billionaires has grown quickly during the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to increased stock and home equity, even more than before the virus struck.

But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 31, 2021

Beasley responded to Musk on Twitter, writing $6 billion will not solve world hunger,

“but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation”

An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to Covid/conflict/climate crises.”

He also offered to meet with Musk to discuss the topic.

“Please publish your current & proposed spending in detail so people can see exactly where money goes,” Musk said in a Twitter reply. “Sunlight is a wonderful thing.”

It remained unclear Monday whether a meeting will be set.

In 2020, the UN had received $8.4 billion in donations, which it says was $5.3 billion short of its requirements. Its top donors include the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The highly respected business platform took the action shortly after the news of Gates divorce to his wife of 27 years, went viral.

Bill and Melinda announced their decision to go separate ways on Monday night, seeking privacy.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”

“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.

“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life,” they said in a joint statement.

Before he was taken off the list, Gates was on the fourth spot after Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault.

Financial details of their parting ways are not yet clear but Melinda may take half of her estrange husband’s wealth.

Gates, who has a net worth of $130 billion, owns 1.37% of Microsoft’s outstanding shares, which are worth more than $26 billion.
