The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), following the approval of the examination’s Award Committee.
A total of 186,291 candidates registered for the examination, which was conducted across the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and five foreign countries.
According to NECO, candidates sat for examinations in 12 subjects during the exercise, which commenced on April 20 and concluded on April 30, 2026.
The results were approved for release after the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee and Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folake David, who represented the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination.
She commended NECO for the smooth administration of the examination and the processes that culminated in the timely release of the results.
The council said the release of the results marks the completion of the 2026 BECE exercise and reflects its commitment to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the examination process.
