FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has approved the revocation of a land belonging to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi.
This was contained in a notice of revocation pasted on the property located at Plot 2935, off Mamud Ribadu Street, Asokoro, Abuja.
According to the notice signed by Engineer Umar Sayyadi, deeds registrar, at the FCT Administration, the former AGF had contravened the guiding terms for the allocation.

The Council of Legal Education of the Nigerian Law School has imposed a five-year ban on law admissions at Baze University Abuja.
The council accused Baze University, owned by vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, of consistently violating approved quotas.
The Nigerian Law School said findings showed Baze University, founded by the Labour Party’s presidential running mate Yusuf Datti-Ahmed, was carrying over 347 backlogged law graduates awaiting admission.
The council stated that since 2017, the university has admitted over 750 law students, exceeding its 50 students per session allotment that should have taken 15 years to fill.
It added that Baze also improperly runs a 3-year law degree for some candidates instead of the accredited 5-year national benchmark curriculum.
Consequently, CLE has banned the university from law admissions for five years in the first instance, saying the period will enable resolving the backlog and compliance issues.
The council said follow-up visits would check if remedies have been implemented before considering lifting the sanction. It notified admission bodies like JAMB to steer prospective students away from the university temporarily.
The blanket moratorium despite the presence of innocent or unsuspecting students and parents has generated criticism. But officials say regulatory oversight must be upheld, promising that the students’ fate would be addressed.
The Acting Secretary and Director of Administration of the Nigerian Law School, Ms Aderonke Osho, who made this known, said, “At its Quarterly Meeting held on November 23, 2023, the Council of Legal Education (CLE) presided over by its Chairman, Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN, OFR considered the report of the Accreditation panel to the Faculty of Law, Baze University, Abuja.
“It emerged from the findings by the Panel led by the Director-General, Nigerian Law School, Prof Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, that: Baze University consistently and most flagrantly had contravened its admission quota of 50 students per session as approved by the Council of Legal Education with the result that the Faculty is currently having a backlog of over 347 law students waiting to be admitted into the Nigerian Law School.
Since 2017 the Council of Legal Education had grappled with the excesses of Baze University by admitting over 750 law students which ordinarily would have taken about 15 years of admission based on the quota allotted to the University.
“Baze University runs a three (3)-year LL.B programme for some UTME candidates without the approval of National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB and Council of Legal Education.”
The statement further noted that “Under the NUC Minimum Benchmark Academic Standard (BMAS) for law degree programme in Nigerian Universities, Law is a five (5)-year programme for UTME candidates and four (4)-year for Direct Entry students.
“The Council of Legal Education after thorough consideration of these infractions resolved as follows: The imposition of a moratorium on admission of law students to the Faculty of Law, Baze University, Abuja, with immediate effect;
“The moratorium will last in the first instance for a period of 5 years and may be renewed if no satisfactory action is taken to remedy the situation.
“The Council in the interest of the innocent students, parents and guardians will use the 5 year period to find ways to deal with the backlog of law students admitted by Baze University in excess of its admission quota.
“Follow-up visits will be paid to the university to ascertain the extent of the measures it has taken to remedy the anomalies observed during the accreditation visit.
“The National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Parents, guardians, prospective applicants, and members of the public are hereby put on notice on the status of Baze University Abuja and its faculty of law.”

Davido logistics manager, Israel Afeare, also known as Israel DMW, has thrown an array of accusations and insults at his estranged wife, Sheila courage, and her family.
Israel DMW did not hold back as he publicly aired his frustrations, revealing a turbulent relationship with Sheila.
He claimed in a continuous statement that Sheila was disparaging him by sharing private texts with his boss (davido), whom he refers to as “oga.”
The logistics manager then leveled serious charges against Sheila and her family, branding them “gold diggers” and accused them of extortion.
He was the one who introduced Sheila to his boss, according to Israel DMW, and even advised that he follow her on Instagram.
However, he now claims that Sheila and her family are seeking a higher bidder to marry their daughter.
Israel DMW directed curses towards Sheila and anyone who comes into contact with her.

The founder of the Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Mike Bamiloye, has spoken out about the negative attitudes of some married Christian women in their matrimonial homes.
Bamiloye, in a post on his verified Facebook handle on Saturday, said the so-called women in the Lord are fond of having their ways at all times.
According to him, such wives do not submit to their husbands while at home.
These women, he stated, look beautiful and keep smiling beside their husbands in church, but they are the direct opposite of what they portray outside the moment the couples leave the church.
The christian film producer described such women as stubborn, rude, disrespectful, stressing that they are stingy with their bodies to their husbands.
“Some married women in the Lord are fond of having their ways all the time. They never submit to their husbands. They never follow their husbands.
“They are beautiful to behold in beauty, they smile all the time, they stand beside their husband in the church, but they are not who they claim to be. They are the direct opposite at home. Stubborn, rude, unbroken, disrespectful and very stingy with their body to their husbands.
“They dictate their terms to give their husbands access to their body. They are hard at home, but soft in the church. Very unsubmissive and insensitive,” he stated.
Bamiloye prayed for husbands married to such women, saying May God Almighty deliver men from such “sisters”.

There was tension in Kano city on Friday as supporters of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party and the All Progressives Congress vowed to go ahead with their planned protests today (Saturday) in defiance of warnings by the state police command.
The separate protests are for and against the Court of Appeal ruling, which affirmed the governorship election petitions tribunal’s judgment removing Governor Abba Yusuf of the NNPP.
The NNPP supporters are protesting against the judgment of the appellate court and the emergence of a conflicting written judgment that affirmed Yusuf as the duly elected governor, but the court later explained that the removal of the governor was valid as the conflicting written judgment was a clerical error.
On the other hand, supporters of the APC are insisting on their planned protest in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Nasiru Gawuna.
The state police command, however, warned that it would not allow any unauthorised protest capable of snowballing into violence, adding that it would deal decisively with organisers of such and anyone caught fomenting trouble.
The warning was contained in a statement on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on behalf of state Commissioner of Police, Mr Husaini Gumel.
The statement read in part, “Credible information at the command’s disposal revealed that some groups of people claiming to be political party supporters of both the NNPP and the APC are using various media platforms and mobilising people and planning to enter the streets on Saturday, 25th of November, 2023 to stage protests against the Kano State governorship Appeal Court’s verdict.
“The information further revealed that the intention of the protesters is to shut down the state and attack prominent political party opponents; an action which may likely result in violence.
”At this juncture, the police command is making it categorically clear that no formal notice was received from any of these political parties about the plan to conduct any protest or gathering.”
Haruna added, “The police command is issuing this warning to all residents of the state to be extra careful as whoever intends to conduct any protest or procession should do so only in accordance with the provisions of the law.
“Furthermore, the position of the law is very clear; whoever attempts to disrupt the peace in the state will be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
“You will all recall that before and after the Court of Appeal ruling, the leaderships of both the NNPP and the APC had attended a peace meeting and signed an accord among themselves before the Kano State Police Command where both buttressed their stand of working with the security agencies for the promotion of sustainable peace.
“In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, calls on all residents to maintain calmness and avoid any form of unlawful gathering, protest, or procession that may trigger violence as joint security forces have since been dispatched to strategic locations to safeguard peace and order throughout the state.”
Military on alert
The Commander of the 3rd Brigade, Kano, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Jamiu Are, during a courtesy call to him by the leadership of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel, gave an assurance that the military would collaborate with the state police command to ensure peaceful co-existence in Kano State.
Are said, “Kano is the commercial nerve centre of the North, and we cannot compromise its security, as it will disrupt the economy of the region in particular and the country at large.
“Kano is not only central, but the nerve centre of all activities in the northern part of the country and the commercial nerve centre of the region. Whatever happens in Kano will spread to parts of the North.”
He pledged that the military would continue to collaborate with other security agencies in the state, like the Department of State Services, the police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to ensure that the security of lives and property was secured.
Are added, “We do not want anything to happen to Kano; that is why insecurity has been contained in Kano.
“This is possible because of so many factors, including the synergy among all the security agencies. Rest assured that all of us that are involved as security agencies are working as one in the way we work.”
Govt blames opposition
When contacted for his reaction on the threat by both the APC and the NNPP to stage protests, the state Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, stated that the position of the government was that the protest was largely being organised by the opposition to discredit the government.
According to him, the opposition is staging a protest ostensibly to cause a breach of the peace.
“We are happy that the state government has called on the security agencies to ensure that they protect lives and property of the people,” the commissioner added.
Dantiye noted that the governor appealed to the good people of Kano to remain calm and have faith in the judicial process of the country
He said Governor Yusuf called on the people to remain calm and maintain peace and not cause any harm or engage in anything that would cause the destruction of lives and property.
When contacted last night, the Vice Chairman of the APC in the state, Shehu Maigari, said he was not aware of any planned protest by members or supporters of the party.
According to him, the APC alongside its leadership and numerous supporters is a peace loving party that will never engage in any protest to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in state.
“If anyone dares to intimidate or harass either its leadership or members, the APC will not fold its arms but will defend itself,” he added.
APC chieftain pleads
A chieftain of the APC in the state, Garba Yaryasa, advised supporters of the NNPP to allow peace to reign so as not to plunge the state into crisis.
Yaryasa, who is a former co-ordinator of the Tinubu Camping Organisation for Kano South, gave the advice in an interview with one of our correspondents in Kano on Thursday.
“Desperation and confrontation is not the best way of approaching issues. So, there is a need for the political actors and their supporters in the state to promote peaceful coexistence,” he said.
Yaryasa, who was reacting to the planned protest, urged the leadership of the NNPP to desist from heating up the polity and stop unguarded utterances on the Appeal Court judgment, and allow the Supreme Court to decide on what to do.
He added, “We are all brothers and sisters. So, I see no reason why people who are from the same family should engage in something that can create enmity among them.
“Kano has for long been enjoying peace, so why now, because of the Appeal Court judgment, will people begin to incite chaos?

On Wednesday, policemen were seen dispersing protesters in the Dan Agundi area of the state.
The protesters had attended a special prayer organised by residents of Kofar Nasarawa in Kano metropolis before starting the protest.
From pictures circulating online, one of the protesters was seen holding a “Justice for Kano” banner.
It was gathered that the protesters, who had set up bonfires along the road, were later dispersed by armed policemen deployed in the area.
‘You can’t correct errors’
Counsel for the governor, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, insisted that the appellate court could not correct what it claimed to be mere clerical errors.
He said the appellate court lacked the powers to effect any correction in the judgment, having become functus officio in the case.
In a letter to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court dated November 23, 2023 and titled: Re: Retrieval of certified true copy of judgment in appeal NO: CA/KN/EP/GOV/KAN/34/2023 – Abba Kabir Yusuf and All Progressives Congress & Ors, the lawyer stated that the 60 days allowed by law for the appellate court to hear and determine the appeal expired on November 18, and as such, the court no longer had the power to correct any perceived error in the judgment.
He stated, “As officers in the Temple of Justice, we believe we owe the institution, as well as the respected Court of Appeal, a duty to highlight and address some very pertinent issues arising out of your said letter, including, but not limited to:
“Timely disposal of appeal: The judgement of the lower Tribunal was delivered on 20th September 2023. By the imperative of Section 285(7) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Court of Appeal had only sixty (60) days to ‘hear and dispose’ of the appeal arising from the judgement of the Tribunal. Most humbly, the Constitution applies the word ‘within’ and not ‘from’ the date of the delivery of the judgement of the Tribunal.

The Kano State government has sacked no fewer than 3,234 workers “illegally” employed under the administration of the former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abudullahi Baffa Bichi, disclosed this while briefing journalists, on Friday, November 24.
According to him, the affected persons were not eligible to be employed into the Kano State Civil Service.
He said the development followed the government’s decision to implement report of the committee on screening and verification of employment conducted by the immediate past administration.
“The verification committee report was received by the Government and its salient observations and recommendations were noted and accepted,” he said.
“The majority of the employment was not captured in the 2023 Approved Budget and a significant percentage of those employed had neither applied nor indicated interest to serve which form a major aspect of employment requirement.
Most of those employed did not undergo processes of screening and recruitment interviews as expected by the service regulations; employed were found to have suspicious or forged certificates, while many non-indigenes were employed in spite of a large number of qualified unemployed indigenes roaming.
“The employment did not take into consideration the actual manpower needs of the respective MDAs but was influenced by the desire to tie down the new Administration financially; our streets and those employed were wrongly placed through deployment to non-career posts or the calling of their respective qualifications.”
Bichi stressed that the committee in view of the number of those employed, broke into three panels to handle the screening of the 12,566 as against the 10,800 earlier reported.
However, based on the observations and having regard to the recommendation of the Technical Committee, the SSG said that the Governor has approved the reinstatement of a total of 9,332 staff across 51 MDAs that were found eligible by the committee.
“Those found with offers of appointments but not on the payroll should be subjected to further interviews by relevant recruitment centres in the Service; Proper placement and posting, deployment of eligible staff to relevant MDAs for optimal utilization should be undertaken while in case of those employed into the lower cadre without any regard to their qualifications they should be properly placed depending on need and availability of vacancy.”
The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the election of Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris.
The tribunal threw out the petition filed by PDP and its governorship candidate retired, Maj.-Gen. Aminu Bande, and declared Dr Nasir Idris of All Progressives Congress as the duly elected governor of Kebbi.
The three-man panel of the Tribunal led by Justice Ofem Ofem dismissed the petition by Maj. Gen. Aminu Bande (retd) of the PDP for lacking in merit.

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede has called for an end to corruption, social injustice, deprivation, and rancour in Nigeria.
He made the call in Abuja while hosting a delegation from the Public Complaints Commission, PCC, who paid him a visit at the Commission’s corporate offices.
Olukoyede stated that crises and rancour are largely the result of corruption, injustice and entrenched deprivation and that for any system to function successfully, equity and fairness must be maintained.
He said, “Corruption is the underlying factor of injustice. We should bridge the gap that is causing injustice. Social rancor is also caused by injustice. We must come together to rid our nation of injustice caused by corruption. What is good for one is good for all.”
The EFCC chief pushed the PCC leadership to work hard in order to gain Nigerians’ support.
He also requested a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize the EFCC’s connection with the PCC, ensuring that the two commissions’ existing partnership will be enhanced.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman.
Suleiman was removed as the member representing Ningi Central Constituency in Ningi Local Government Area of the State.
In the judgement it delivered on Friday, the Appeal Court ordered a rerun in 10 polling units in the constituency.
