Following the resignation of the former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chairman, Mamood Yakubu, staff of the commission in a viral video sang ‘burial’ hymnal recession to bid him farewell.
Recall that Yakubu, handed over the leadership of the commission to May Agbamuche-Mbu, who will now serve as acting national chairman.
Yakubu made the announcement on Tuesday during a meeting with resident electoral commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
Meanwhile, in a video shared by saharareporters on X, staff of the commission were seen accompanying the chairman to his vehicle and singing the recession hymn to his “honor”.
President Tinubu is however expected to name the next INEC Chairman on Thursday.
