VeryDarkMan Faces Arrest as Court Rules on Mercy Chinwo Lawsuit

by Nelson Ugwuagbo March 13, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

The Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over allegations of criminal defamation against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.

Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the warrant on Thursday, March 13, 2025, after VDM failed to appear in court following a summons issued on March 5, 2025. The court directed the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies to arrest and produce him before the court to answer the allegations.

VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, urged the court to reconsider the warrant, assuring that he would personally present his client. However, Magistrate Iyanna denied the request, insisting that security agencies ensure VDM’s appearance.

Adeyanju confirmed the development to Channels Television, stating, “Yes, a bench warrant has been issued against him for failure to show up in court. They are just interested in media trial over the matter. They are not interested in prosecuting the matter.”

The case stems from alleged defamatory statements made by VDM on social media, in which he accused Chinwo of involvement in a contractual dispute and the alleged diversion of $345,000 linked to her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee.

Chinwo, through her legal team led by Pelumi Olajengbesi of Law Corridor, submitted documentary evidence, including emails and payment receipts, to refute the claims. She argued that VDM’s statements were false and damaging to her reputation.

The allegations against VDM are said to contravene Section 391 of the Penal Code and Section 24(1)(B) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015.

In a separate legal action, Chinwo’s counsel has also filed a lawsuit at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeking N1.1 billion in damages. The suit demands that VDM delete, retract, and publicly apologize for the allegedly defamatory statements made against the singer and her brand.

He said, “Baba Tee, with the way I like you so much, you shouldn’t be sleeping with other people’s wives.

“You gave Lande’s wife doggy, is that how you people behave in the movie industry? I swear to God, if anybody moves close to my own wife, the person would die o, my wife that is an actress, if I see anybody doing rubbish with her, the person will die. “A man who sleeps with another man’s wife despite knowing her husband, it’s a setback for him. God won’t let you see set back bro. With the way women are many in the world, you’re now allowing that man molest you, even if though his wife is a dog.

“Please o I’m begging you in God’s name, you know you come to visit me a lot and we both visit each other, it won’t be good if we become enemies.

“Now that Truth or Dare is what you’re using to sleep with other people’s wives, please stop it, it’s not good egbon.

“It’s because I love you that I’m in your DM telling you. Baba Tee, no matter what it is, the man who sleeps with another’s wife is blameless, it’s the husband that should warn his wife.”

Why I gave fake testimony about acquiring N500m mansion at Ebuka Obi’s church – Church Member

by Folarin Kehinde March 5, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

A Nigerian woman, Helen Loveth, who testified about acquiring a N500 million mansion at Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s Zion Ministry, has revealed why she lied.

Loveth had claimed that divine intervention enabled her to purchase the luxury five-bedroom property.

Social media erupted over the weekend after she was spotted selling drinks in Enugu.

A video showing people confronting her sparked controversy online, prompting Prophet Ebuka Obi to publicly distance himself, stating that he had no knowledge of the woman.

The Enugu-based woman, who appeared visibly shaken during questioning, said she gave the testimony as an act of faith because she was in the process of purchasing the house.

However, speaking after her arrest by the police, she said, “I did not build the house. We’re in the process of buying it. I have checked it, and the agent said we should go and meet the landlord. It is not mine yet. I don’t own any house.”

Loveth, who could not provide the house address, added, “I don’t own it yet. I wanted to pay in instalments.”

by Nelson Ugwuagbo February 24, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Nigerian musician Ruger has hinted at plans to settle down, citing the increasing number of weddings around him as a reason for reconsidering his lifestyle.

In a Snapchat post, the 25-year-old artist expressed doubts about continuing his “playboy” lifestyle as he approaches his 30th birthday.

“Everybody is just getting married. Got me questioning myself—how long will I continue this playboy shiii? I am settling down this year, period. I’ll soon be 30, tf,” he wrote.

Ruger, born Michael Adebayo, gained prominence in 2021 after signing with D’Prince’s Jonzing World Record, an affiliate of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. That same year, he released his debut extended play (EP), Pandemic, which brought him widespread recognition.

In February 2024, the Afrobeats star confirmed his exit from Jonzing World and announced the launch of his own record label, Blown Boy Entertainment.

Ruger has been in the spotlight for both his music and public remarks. In 2024, he expressed interest in dating DJ Cuppy, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. In September 2023, he made headlines after stating that Nigerian women were not the “best in the world.” Additionally, in June 2023, he faced criticism for groping female fans during a concert in Canada.

The singer has received several accolades for his work, including the AFRIMA Best Newcomer Award in 2021 and Best New Artiste at the 2023 Soundcity MVP Awards.

by Folarin Kehinde February 21, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has vowed to turn a new leaf.

The singer made the vow after he was granted a N2 million bail by an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday.

The Zazu crooner was arraigned by the Ogun State police command for allegedly assaulting three officials from the Ogun Planning and Development Permit Authority, OGPDPA.

The singer said he’s looking for money to fulfill his bail condition.

“My fans, thank God for everything. If you have God, you have everything. I need money. I am not looking for trouble anymore. I’m now focused on making money. I have N2 million bail debt. I need more money. I am looking for money,” he said.
