TRANSFER: Three Clubs Fight For Super Eagle Star, Frank Onyeka

by Nelson Ugwuagbo June 27, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is reportedly on the radar of Burnley, VfB Stuttgart, and Fiorentina as uncertainty surrounds his future at Premier League side Brentford.

The 27-year-old recently returned to Brentford following a loan stint with Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg during the 2023/24 season.

However, with just one year remaining on his contract and the recent departure of Brentford manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur, Onyeka’s future remains unclear.

Speaking recently, Onyeka admitted he is uncertain about where he will be playing next season and is waiting for the club to appoint a new head coach before making any decision regarding his future.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, additional clubs have also shown interest in the defensive midfielder, who may be reluctant to sign a contract extension with the Bees.

DJ Cuppy’s Ex-Fiancé Sparks Outrage with Controversial Instagram Comment

by Nelson Ugwuagbo June 16, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Nigerian disc jockey and billionaire heiress Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, was thrust into the spotlight over the weekend following a provocative comment made by her former fiancé, British boxer Ryan Taylor, on Instagram.

The controversy erupted when Taylor posted a Father’s Day tribute on June 15, featuring photos of himself with his daughter and expressing his commitment to “combat racism by having more black children.” A fan’s lighthearted remark that his daughter resembled Cuppy prompted a sharp response from Taylor, igniting a firestorm across Nigerian social media.

In his comment, Taylor wrote, “She wasn’t enough of a woman to even fathom creating such a beautiful creation like mine. Please leave and don’t come back.”

The pointed jab at Cuppy, his ex-fiancée, was widely perceived as disrespectful, drawing immediate backlash from her fans and the broader online community.

The remark referenced their high-profile engagement, which began in November 2022 after a whirlwind romance but ended abruptly in July 2023, marked by the couple unfollowing each other on Instagram.

The billionaire heiress, daughter of Femi Otedola, has remained silent on the matter, choosing not to engage with the controversy.

“I don’t like Jarvis; she has offended me” Peller hint on break-up

by Folarin Kehinde June 15, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

TikToker, Jarvis, recently broke down in tears during a live-streaming session, shedding light on the ongoing tension in her relationship with fellow content creator, Peller.

The emotional moment occurred during a joint live broadcast that featured other popular TikTokers, Sandra Benede and Seun Pizzle. In the video, Jarvis expressed her frustration, accusing Peller of breaching her trust by publicly sharing private details of their relationship.

According to her, any time she opens up to Peller about personal issues, he brings them up during his live sessions, often inappropriately. “He doesn’t know how to filter his words when he’s live,” she said, explaining why she has stopped confiding in him.

When asked what triggered the recent disagreement, Jarvis admitted the matter had deeper layers. “There are many reasons Peller is angry, but he’s taking it public. We’ve already talked about these things privately, but because it hasn’t been addressed online…”

On his part, Peller accused Jarvis of being secretive and not informing him of her plans in advance. He maintained that he’s open with her about his life and doesn’t hold anything back.

Venting his frustrations during his own live session, he said, “How can I claim this kind of girl? Do you know what this girl did? I don’t like Jarvis; she has offended me. I’m just helping her life now. I’m trying to accept her back, but she has already hurt me.”

The situation sparked debate among fans, many of whom were skeptical about the authenticity of the drama. Some suggested it might be content-driven, predicting that the pair would soon reconcile as they had in the past.

This isn’t the first public spat between the couple. In March 2025, Jarvis called out Peller and threatened to end their engagement following another heated argument.

Since making their relationship public in 2024, Jarvis and Peller have been the subject of intense online speculation, with many doubting the longevity of their romance. Their relationship gained widespread attention in December 2025 when Peller proposed to her in a viral video.

11-Year-Old Kuku Hamidah Steals the Spotlight as First Youngest Female Rider at Ojude Oba 2025

by Leading Reporters June 14, 2025
written by Leading Reporters

At just 11 years old, Kuku Hamidah Anjolaoluwa rode her way into the hearts of thousands at Ojude Oba 2025, earning recognition as the youngest female horse rider in this year’s grand cultural parade.

Representing the prestigious Kuku Royal Family, Hamidah made a stunning return for her second official appearance at the annual celebration — and this year, she delivered a performance that wowed the crowd and drew admiration from all corners of the festival ground.

Hamidah began horse riding at the tender age of 6, trained diligently by her father — a seasoned horseman and cultural custodian who saw not just potential in his daughter, but purpose. She had appeared alongside him for years, quietly learning the ropes and earning respect behind the scenes.

But it was in 2024 that everything changed.

That year, Hamidah stepped into the spotlight solo, commanding attention with a rare blend of poise, confidence, and elegance that stunned even the elders. Her performance instantly made her a standout — and the first youngest female rider to ever shine in the historic parade.

“Ojude Oba is more than a festival to me. It’s a celebration of our heritage and unity,” Hamidah shared. “Riding symbolizes strength and courage. It reminds me that being a young woman doesn’t limit me — I ride to represent tradition and progress.”

In a heartwarming twist, her 2025 appearance came with extra meaning: Hamidah was joined by her 6-year-old younger brother, marking his debut ride and adding another layer of legacy and family pride to the moment.

“Before the festival, I remind myself who I am, who I represent, and why I ride,” she said.

Her father, proud and emotional, added:

“This isn’t just about riding horses. It’s about raising children who understand the richness of where they come from and are proud to represent it.”

The crowd’s reaction said it all — cheers, applause, and phones lifted in the air capturing the moment a young girl, trained by her father, rode with the spirit of royalty and inspired a new generation.

Kuku Hamidah’s story is more than just a festival highlight. It’s a powerful reminder that the future of tradition is already in motion — galloping forward with pride, purpose, and possibility.

David Beckham to Receive Knighthood from King Charles III

by Nelson Ugwuagbo June 6, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Former England football captain David Beckham is set to be awarded a knighthood by King Charles III next week in recognition of his contributions to football and charity, according to reports on Friday.

Beckham, 50, is expected to be named in the King’s Birthday Honours List, the BBC and other outlets reported. The honour will see him take the title of “Sir David,” while his wife, Victoria Beckham, will become “Lady Beckham.”

The football icon joins a list of celebrated British sports figures who have received knighthoods, including former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and tennis star Sir Andy Murray.

Beckham earned 115 caps for England and enjoyed a distinguished club career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain. He currently serves as president and co-owner of Major League Soccer side Inter Miami and co-owns English League Two club Salford City.

Previously, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003, a lower-ranking honour in the UK honours system. Victoria Beckham later received the same title for her contributions to the fashion industry.

Last month, Beckham was named among Time magazine’s 100 most influential figures in philanthropy. He serves as an official ambassador for The King’s Foundation, focusing on youth education and environmental awareness, and has been a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005.

Beckham was previously considered for a knighthood after his role in London’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. However, reports indicated his nomination was delayed due to concerns over his involvement in a tax avoidance scheme, from which he was later cleared.

Ronaldo’s Goal Secures Nations League Final Spot Amidst Record-Breaking Run

by Nelson Ugwuagbo June 5, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second-half strike was enough to hand Portugal a narrow victory over Germany in the first UEFA Nations League semi-final at the Munich Football Arena on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old forward once again demonstrated his enduring class, showing no signs of slowing down as he continues to set remarkable records both for his country and club side, Al Nassr.

Below are some of the milestones the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has achieved in recent months:

All-Time Highest Scorer in a Saudi Pro League Season
Ronaldo set a new record in the 2023–24 Saudi Pro League season by scoring 35 goals, surpassing the previous record of 34 set by Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018–19 campaign. His tally was achieved in 31 matches, averaging a goal every 75.6 minutes.

First Player to Score Against 200 Different Opponents
In November 2024, Ronaldo became the first footballer in history to score against 200 different opponents—comprising 152 club sides and 48 national teams—after netting against Al Qadisiyah. The feat further underscores his consistent scoring record over a two-decade career across various leagues and international tournaments.

Most Hat-Tricks for Al Nassr
Since joining the Saudi Arabian side in 2023, Ronaldo has scored six hat-tricks in 111 appearances for Al Nassr, bringing his career total to 66—the most among active players.

First Player to Win Golden Boot in Four Top-Flight Leagues
Ronaldo capped off the 2023–24 season by emerging as the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League, becoming the first player to win the golden boot in four different top-tier leagues: England (Premier League), Spain (La Liga), Italy (Serie A), and Saudi Arabia (Saudi Pro League).

Ronaldo’s recent performances continue to defy age, reinforcing his legacy as one of football’s most prolific and enduring goal scorers.

Popular Nollywood actress, Biola Bayo, has confirmed her separation from her husband, Oluseyi, revealing that the pair have been apart since April 2024.

The actress made the disclosure in an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, which also coincided with her birthday. In the post, she extended birthday wishes to her estranged husband, referring to him as her “ex-husband and baby daddy.”

“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you, I pray you find peace in all your ways, may God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations in Jesus name,” she wrote.

Bayo went on to officially confirm the status of her marriage, stating: “Yes, you heard me right! My husband and I have been separated since April last year, but we have decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son who means everything to us.”

The actress expressed regret that the marriage did not succeed and offered an apology to her fans and supporters.

“To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. Please keep us in your prayers,” she added.

Reflecting on the emotional toll the past year has taken on her, Bayo shared: “While I go about making other people happy in the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months. But I gain strength from Christ who loves me eternally and gave Himself for me.”

She urged the public to show kindness, noting that people often endure silent struggles: “Let’s learn to be kind to people, you have no idea what others are going through until they say it.”

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 26, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Real Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the club’s new head coach, with the former midfielder set to take charge from June 1, 2025. Alonso will replace outgoing manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is set to take over the Brazilian national team.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the Spanish giants announced that Alonso has signed a three-year contract running until June 30, 2028. He is also expected to lead the team at the FIFA Club World Cup.

“Xabi Alonso will be the Real Madrid coach for the next three seasons, from June 1, 2025, until June 30, 2028,” the statement read.

The 43-year-old departs German side Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the Bundesliga season, having guided them to a second-place finish. Alonso’s managerial success in Germany had drawn attention from several top European clubs, with Madrid maintaining strong interest for months.

“Alonso is one of the biggest legends at Real Madrid and in world football,” the club added. “He wore our shirt in 236 games between 2009 and 2014. During that time, he won six trophies.”

Alonso will be officially unveiled at a press conference scheduled for Monday at 10:30 GMT.

Ballon d’Or Ceremony Set for September 22 with Expanded Women’s Categories

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 19, 2025
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place on September 22 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with organisers announcing equal awards for male and female footballers for the first time in the event’s history.

According to France Football and UEFA, six categories each will be awarded to men and women, including the newly introduced prizes for Best Women’s Goalkeeper, Best Young Women’s Player, and Top Women’s Scorer in a club or national team.

This brings the total number of player-specific awards to twelve, alongside the Socrates Award, which recognises outstanding social initiatives by players of any gender.

Nominees across all categories will be announced in early August.

Last year’s edition was marked by controversy after Real Madrid boycotted the event following the omission of Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior from the Best Men’s Player award, which was awarded to Manchester City’s Rodri.
