BREAKING: Amokachi rejects being Finidi George’s assistant

by Folarin Kehinde June 6, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

There is tension in the Super Eagles’ camp, as Daniel Amokachi is yet to show up, with only a few days to the 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

Amokachi’s absence has raised questions about his role as one of Finidi George’s assistant coaches.

Leading reporters learnt that he has rejected the contract offered by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

This comes amid speculations that Amokachi and Finidi are not on good terms.

Amokachi was one of the assistants announced by the NFF alongside Benjamin James, Olatunji Baruwa, Chima Onyeike, and Mehmet Ozturk.

But there are suggestions that the NFF imposed Amokachi on Finidi.

This led to NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, debunking the rumours.

“I am very happy when we unveiled Finidi to Nigeria.

“The NFF Technical Director put all the names on the list and they chose the best they felt would work.

“All the names you saw as assistants to Finidi were chosen by him,” Gusau said.

Blogger begs for forgiveness after accusing E-money of sleeping with Late Junior Pope’s wife

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 28, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

An upcoming blogger, Stanley Okoruwa, has apologised to businessman and singer, E-Money for accusing him with having an affair with the wife of late actor, Junior Pope, Jennifer Awele.

Days ago, E-Money initiated a search for two women and a man who claimed he had an affair with the wife of the later actor.

Consequently, the blogger was arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command after a petition by E-Money.

After his arrest, Stanley made another U-turn by retracting his statements and expressing regret for his actions, admitting the allegations were merely an attempt to gain followers on his Facebook page.

He said: “I did a video about E-Money. I said a lot of things that are not true in that video, that is why the police arrested me.

“I said something regarding a video I saw online about a woman – saying that Sir E-Money is responsible for the things that happened to Nollywood actor John Odonwodo, aka Junior Pope’s case.

“I said something like that, I also said that Sir E-Money was also having an affair with Junior Pope’s wife. I have never in my life met E-Money. Everything I made in that video was not true.

“I made the video out of trying to boost my page traffic level, I never knew it would go viral the way it went. I don’t intend to tarnish Sir E-Money’s name. I was just making the video, I didn’t know it would go wide.

“I know the contents of the video were wrong of me to have made. I don’t know the video will escalate to that extent.”

Apologising to the businessman, he said: “E-Money, I am so sorry for tarnishing your image. I only made the video that E-Money was sleeping with Junior Pope’s wife just to gain more followers on Facebook,” he stated in an interview with newsmen.

Lagos police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the blogger will be prosecuted for allegedly defaming E-Money, in his online video.

He said E-Money followed due process by reporting to the police.

“He is going to be prosecuted because the things he engaged in were criminal in nature. He has allegedly defamed E-money and he is going to be prosecuted,” Hundeyin stated.

Sophia Momodu blasts Israel DMW for claiming Davido funded Imade’s travels

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 28, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, has responded to claims made by Israel DMW that Davido financed their daughter Imade’s international travels.

In a recent interview with Pulse Nigeria on Children’s Day, Imade mentioned that she has lost count of the numerous countries she has visited.

Reacting to the video, Davido’s aide, Israel commented under a blog post that the trips were funded by his boss, he wrote: “Oga’s money”.

In response to Israel’s comment, Sophia Momodu took to X to call him out for attributing her hard work to Davido and his money.

She said: “I told Israel the 1st time he lied on social media that I didn’t find it funny & he apologised. Why he’s lying on his Oga again on my child’s post is beyond me. What does taking my child on a tour of the south of France have to do with your oga’s money? Y’all owe me so much money but have the audacity to be capping on social media. Is Israel ok?

“Like I’m busy! I’ve always been very clear on understanding my purpose as a parent. It’s either you’re helping or you’re a distraction. Just capping anyhow on Children’s Day for that matter. Israel no Dey fear God? What’s all this?” said Sophia in another post.

She concluded: “This is what happens when you openly disrespect someone’s boundaries. You’re too close to home to be telling such lies openly without considering the repercussions. As a single parent, openly telling such a lie even if it was ‘just a joke’ actually has its repercussions. I work really hard to take care of my child & provide for her needs. It’s unfair to give people the impression that I’m being funded by some oga.”

“Harrysong bed-wets”, Ex-wife Alexer reveals

by Folarin Kehinde May 27, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Alexer Peres, the estranged wife of singer, Harrysong, has hit hard at him following his infidelity allegations against her.

Leading reporters reports that Harrysong claimed that his wife, Alexer, was unfaithful in their marriage and got pregnant for another man despite marrying her due to emotional blackmail.

He said he regrets marrying into his wife’s family, claiming that infidelity runs in their family as her mother, who has been married to seven men, still cheats.

Reacting, Peres debunked Harrysong’s claims, saying her mother only remarried once after the death of her father.

She also challenged the singer to come forward with evidence that she cheated on him.

She went on to claim that it is Harrysong’s mum who has six children out of wedlock for six different men.

Peres further claimed that Harrysong was a product of incest and he bedwets.

On her Instagram account, she wrote: “Do you all know that Harrysong bed wets? Yes celebrity wey Dey piss for body.

“Oh so sorry to break it to u all. I also get to deal with this daily, while calling him my lord.

“You said I convinced you to get married to me? A 20 years old girl, convincing a full grown man to get married to her?

“Please make me understand, never knew I was married to a robot, Who couldn’t make decisions for himself. Same you who told me your ex-girlfriend used charms on you.

“And now your eyes are open since u met me So it’s now me that forced marriage on you, really?

“I never knew my mum married 6 husbands wow, chronic narcissist.

“My mum only remarried when she lost her husband, as i speak, she is happily married, with her dowry paid in full.

“Since when did it become a crime for a widow to remarry? And what does the words ’till death do us part’ mean?

“Pained soul why are u trying to project your insecurities on me? We all know your mum gave birth to 6 children for 6 different men.
None of which she was married to.

“And you, a product of incest. Imagine having 5 siblings and you don’t know who their fathers are.

“Why throw stones, when you live in a glass house?”

Peres said she was open to conducting DNA tests on their children to prove her innocence.

She added that the singer was the one who gave her all kinds of sexually transmitted diseases except HIV and Hepatitis B.

“You‘re joking”, Kanayo .O. Kanayo, dares FG over ban on money rituals, smoking in movies

by Folarin Kehinde May 24, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Veteran actor Kanayo .O. Kanayo alongside music icon Mike Okri has frowned at the Federal Government’s recent approval of the prohibition of smoking and glamorizing of money rituals and killings in Nigerian films, skits and music videos, describing such development as ‘a joke.’

The government on Wednesday, through the Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, Dr. Shaibu Husseini approved the “Prohibition of Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Product, Nicotine Product Promotion, glamorization, display in movies, musical videos and skits” in pursuant to Section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004.

NFVCA boss made this known, while speaking at a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood in partnership with Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, CAPPA, held in Enugu.

However, reacting to the development, veteran musician, Mike Okri described the action of the federal government as a joke, adding “it’s a way to silence the movie industry.”

“Whoever is behind this from the FG is joking. It’s a way to silence the movie industry. They should focus on the real challenges facing the country,” Okri snapped.

Also, reacting, popular actor Kanay .O. Kanayo described the move, as ‘a sensible nonsense/. He said that the Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa has no job for approving a move to gag the film makers.

Husseini stated that the censors board has continued to place the highest premium on the progress of the film industry by ensuring that films/video works, musical videos and skits are free of depiction and glamorization of harmful substances like smoking of tobacco, violence, criminal acts, immoral acts, ritual killing and money ritual.

According to the NFVCB boss, “Today, we are facing an industry emergency requiring bold and ambitious actions from all of us as parents, guardians and stakeholders.”

He said after a series of engagements, the NFVCB in collaboration with the CAPPA decided to do a Subsidiary Regulations to cater for smoking in movies since this aspect was not expressly spelt out in the extant Law.

FG Bans ‘Money Rituals’, Other Vices In Nollywood Films

by Folarin Kehinde May 22, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Dr Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), says the Federal Government has approved the prohibition of money rituals and glamorising of vices in Nigerian films.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Husseini disclosed this at a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood held in Enugu on Wednesday.

The event was organised by the NFVCB and Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA).

Movie producers, directors and actors drawn from different parts of the country, as well as leaders of various guilds and associations in the Nigerian film industry were present at the event.

Husseini said that Nigeria was facing an industry emergency requiring bold and ambitious actions from all parents, guardians and stakeholders.

“When my predecessor approached the former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, on the need to make subsidiary legislation to curtail the display of smoking in Nigerian movies, he saw the need to include money rituals.

“Others included in the regulation are ritual killings and glamorising other crimes in order to further sanitise the film industry.

“Today, I am delighted to announce to you that the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, pursuant to section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004 has approved the regulation.

“The minister has approved the ‘Prohibition of Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Products, Nicotine Product Promotion and Glamorisation display in Movies, Musical Videos and Skits Regulations 2024’.

“We have also forwarded the approved copy to the Federal Ministry of Justice for Gazette,” he said.

Husseini said the sensitisation programme was to educate stakeholders on the danger inherent in smoking in Nigerian movies.

According to him, besides the health implications, glamorising smoking in films poses a negative influence on teens and young adults who constitute the largest segment of Nigerian movie viewers.

He said that the board was set to undertake detailed enlightenment programmes in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, local communities, faith groups and other institutions.

“As you all know, the film industry occupies a central position in the entertainment and creative sector, and it is imperative that we continue to place the highest premium on the progress of the film industry.

“The NFVCB supports smoke-free movies and smoke-free Nollywood, and we, therefore, seek your collaboration to develop creative content that discourages smoking and promotes positive health messages.

“After a series of engagements, the NFVCB in collaboration with the CAPPA decided to do a ‘subsidiary regulations’ to cater for smoking in movies since this aspect was not expressly spelt out in the extant Law.

“The NFVCB is well prepared to take leadership in this regard and has planned and begun implementing innovative ways to achieve its mandate,” he said.

NAN reports that it is the duty of the Board to register all film and video outlets across the country and to keep a register of such registered outlets among other functions.

JUST IN: Elon Musk’s X.com takes over Twitter

by Nelson Ugwuagbo May 17, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

The social network formerly known as Twitter has fully migrated over to X.com, owner Elon Musk said on Friday.

The billionaire head of Tesla, SpaceX and other companies bought Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022 and announced the rebrand to X last July.

Although the logo and branding were changed to “X”, the domain name remained Twitter.com until Friday.

“All core systems are now on X.com,” Musk wrote on X, posting an image of a logo of a white X on a blue circle.

Queries to Twitter.com redirected users to X.com on Friday morning, though the original domain name still appeared on some browsers.

Musk has repeatedly used the letter X in the branding of his companies, starting in 1999 with his attempt to set up an online financial superstore called X.com.

When he bought Twitter, he set up a company called X Corp to close the deal.

Musk has said he wants “X” to become a super-app along the lines of China’s WeChat.

The Chinese app is much bigger than X and weaves together messaging, voice and video calling, social media, mobile payment, games, news, online booking and other services.

He has also bolted onto X an AI chatbot called “Grok”, which was launched in Europe this week.

Musk’s leadership of X has proved controversial.

He has fired thousands of staff, overseen major technical problems and reinstated accounts of right-wing conspiracy theorists, as well as former US president Donald Trump.

European regulators have also begun probes into X and other social media platforms over fears of misinformation.

The EU demanded earlier this month that X explain its decision to cut content moderation staff, giving the firm a deadline of Friday.
