Exposed: Mark Zuckerberg Covertly Secures 1,600 Acres of Hawaiian Land at $187 Million, Constructing a Self-Sustaining Bunker for Apocalyptic Alertness

Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly constructing an extensive compound in Kauai, Hawaii, featuring a unique blend of luxury and survivalist elements.

The compound, known as Koolau Ranch, is set to include a 5,000-square-foot underground bunker, complete with its own energy and food supplies.

The bunker’s design incorporates a metal door filled with concrete, a feature commonly found in bunkers and bomb shelters.

The project, which reflects a growing trend among Silicon Valley elites for preparedness and luxury, is estimated to cost around $100 million to build on top of the $170 million spent acquiring the land.

This brings the total investment to approximately $270 million, according to Wired.

The project has been shrouded in secrecy since the beginning. Workers on the ranch are required to sign strict nondisclosure agreements, and reports indicate people have been fired for posting on social media that they are working on the project.

Workers on the compound undergo constant surveillance from hundreds of cameras, and military-style security measures have been implemented across the ranch.

The methods to acquire the land also give rise to issues and speculation. Zuckerberg initially hid the purchases of land using shell companies and brokers to disguise them.

Those shell companies are now involved in several lawsuits claiming they pressured locals with ancestral land rights to sell the land or get into a bidding war at auction with one of the richest men in the world.

The sprawling 1,400-acre compound is planned to house more than just the bunker. It will include over 30 bedrooms and bathrooms, two mansions connected by a tunnel to the bunker and nearly a dozen tree houses linked by rope bridges.

The tree houses are designed to provide guests with an immersive treetop experience. The compound also will feature a fitness center, guest houses and other operational buildings.

The county where the compound is being built offers tax incentives for building hurricane-resistant safe rooms, which might partially explain the construction of such a robust structure.

Despite the grand scale of the development, representatives for Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, emphasize their commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the ranch. They point out that the development occupies less than 1% of the land, with the rest dedicated to farming, ranching, conservation and wildlife preservation.

‘Deceitful business’: Texas sues Meta’s Facebook over facial recognition system

by Leading Reporters February 15, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

The state of Texas on Monday sued Facebook’s parent company Meta over privacy protection issues stating that its facial recognition system collected biometric data of citizens without their consent.

The Texas lawsuit alleged that Facebook captured biometric information from photos and videos without the users’ consent as Attorney General Ken Paxton said it was an example of “big tech’s deceitful business practices”.

However, Meta spokesperson said the “claims are without merit” while vowing to “defend itself vigorously”.

Mark Zuckerberg’s company had declared last year that it would be shutting down its facial recognition system and would delete people’s information. Two years ago it had agreed to pay $650 million in a similar privacy case. It was said to be the largest ever settlement of a privacy lawsuit at the time.

The Illinois lawsuit was filed in 2015 over Facebook’s photo-tagging feature as it used the facial recognition system as attorney Edelson asserted that “biometrics along with geolocation were the two primary battlegrounds”.

In a similar move, the Texas lawsuit said Facebook had captured biometric identifiers of Texans “without consent not hundreds, or thousands, or millions of times but billions of times.”

“Facebook will no longer take advantage of people and their children with the intent to turn a profit at the expense of one’s safety and well-being,” Paxton said.

Facebook has been under fire over various issues. Last year whistleblower Frances Haugen had alleged that adults perceive Facebook content as “boring, misleading, and negative” after she leaked documents highlighting the social network’s effect on teens and users’ well-being. Facebook however dismissed Haugen’s charges.

In 6 hours, Zuckerberg loses $7bn to social media shutdown

by Folarin Kehinde October 6, 2021
written by Folarin Kehinde

Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth fell by almost $7 billion in 6 hours, knocking him down a notch on the list of the world’s richest people, after a whistleblower came forward and took Facebook Inc.’s flagship products offline.

According to Bloomerg, Facebook’s stock plummeted by 4.9 per cent, adding to a drop of about 15 per cent since mid-September.

The stock slide sent Zuckerberg’s worth down to $121.6 billion, dropping him below Bill Gates to No. 5 on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He’s down from almost $140 billion in a matter of weeks, according to the index. It was gathered that the problem began when a whistleblower lodged a complaint against Facebook Inc.’s flagship products offline accusing the platforms of promoting some social vices and putting profit over safety of its users.

In a tweet, Chief Technology Officer at Facebook, Mike Schroepfe, said, “Sincere apologies to everyone impacted by outages of Facebook powered services right now. We are experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore as fast as possible.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria lost about $22.5billion (N8.2billion) in six hours following global outage of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp on Monday, according to NetBlocks, a cybersecurity watchdog.

The cost of this outage, the cybersecurity watchdog said, was to the tune of $160 million to the global economy.

NetBlocks explained the Cost Of Shutdown Tool (COST) estimates the loss caused by an internet disruption using specific indicators, including from World Bank and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and the main Facebook app had all been offline for more than six hours in one of the biggest technical failures in the company’s history.

Panicked stockholders started selling off stock in a mass sell-off, causing Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook to lose as much as $7 billion and Facebook saw $40 billion in market capitalisation wiped out.
