Job seekers left stranded as Federal govt’s recruitment portal crashes

by Folarin Kehinde February 9, 2025

Nigerians seeking employment in the Federal Civil Service have expressed frustration over the persistent malfunction of the Federal Government’s recruitment portal, which has made it difficult for many to apply for advertised positions.

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) announced the commencement of recruitment into over 70 positions across various ministries, departments, and agencies on January 27, 2025.

However, days after the announcement, numerous applicants have been unable to access the portal.

A series of checks from Monday through Saturday revealed that the website remained inaccessible.

The malfunction has triggered widespread outrage, with many Nigerians taking to social media to complain about their inability to submit applications.

One of the applicants, Oyin Agboola, lamented that all her attempts to apply had failed as the portal kept logging her out whenever she tried to submit her application.

Another applicant, Shektira Dauda, alleged that the technical difficulties were deliberate attempts to limit the number of applicants.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the FCSC, Hassan Taiwo, admitted that some applicants had encountered difficulties but insisted that others had been able to register successfully.

“There are people who have successfully registered. Many interested applicants, including those outside the country, have been visiting the website. People should keep trying and not give up. The issue has been escalated to the ICT department,” Taiwo told Punch.

However, when asked if the commission would consider extending the application deadline due to the ongoing technical issues, he declined to comment further.
