The Federal Capital Territory Water Board has informed residents that it will shut down water supply in certain areas of Abuja.

This was made known in a statement signed by the management of the FCT Water Board on Wednesday.

The statement noted that the areas that will face disruption of water supply within the FCT include Maitama, Asokoro, Garki 1, Garki 2, Karu/Nyanya, Kubwa 1, Kubwa 2,
Wuse 1 and Wuse 2, Barracks and Central Area.

The statement further revealed that the shutdown of water supply will be in phases for a period of five days to enable the connection of a bye-pass trunk line to Kubwa mainline.

It further stated that the maintenance work has been scheduled to take place in two phases.

Rehabilitation work for phase one will be Monday 18th to Tuesday 19th October, while phase 2 will take place on Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th October 2021.

The Board advised residents of the affected areas to take adequate measures to store water for their daily use during this period.

The statement reads in part, “This is to inform the general public that FCT Water Board will shutdown
phases 1,3 and 4 treatment plants for five days to enable the connection of a bye pass trunk line to Kubwa main line for the rehabilitation of the treated water tank roof slab.

“The maintenance work is scheduled to take place in two phases. Phase one is Monday 18th to Tuesday 19h October, 2021 and phase 2 Friday 22d to Sunday 24h October, 2021.

“Consequently, there will be disruption of water supply to the residents of Maitama, Asokoro, Garki 1, Garki 2, Karu/Nyanya, Kubwa1, Kubwa2, Wuse 1 and Wuse 2, Barracks and Central Area.”
