President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Ndidi as the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). This follows the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Controller General, Haliru Nababa.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday, December 13, 2024, by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire Service, and Correctional Service Board (CDCFIB). According to Ahmed, the appointment takes effect on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Ahmed described Ndidi’s appointment as a recognition of his extensive experience and dedication to the service. He noted that President Tinubu urged Ndidi to leverage his expertise to sustain and enhance the ongoing transformation of the NCoS.

Born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, Ndidi previously served as the Deputy Controller General in charge of the Training and Staff Development Directorate, where he was instrumental in formulating key training and development policies. He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and holds the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic.

Ndidi is expected to build on the achievements of his predecessor while introducing innovative initiatives to further advance the agency’s mandate.
