Martins Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reported a loss of approximately ₦180 million from his NGO’s account due to a cyberattack. In an Instagram video posted on Friday, Otse stated that the funds were diverted to an unknown account following a breach of the NGO’s website.

“I’ve not been myself these past few days. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and N180 million is missing,” Otse lamented. He further revealed that one suspect has been apprehended, and the account has been placed on Post No Debit (PND) status, with ₦20 million remaining while ₦160 million was diverted. Otse mentioned plans to travel to Jos to recover the funds.

To prevent further breaches, Otse disclosed that the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance and assured his followers of ongoing updates regarding the recovery efforts.

The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, launched by Otse in October, garnered significant attention, amassing over ₦30 million in donations within hours. Notably, music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, contributed ₦100 million to the cause.

However, the recent announcement has been met with skepticism on social media platforms. Many users question the possibility of such a substantial sum being stolen through a website hack, given that websites typically do not store funds. Some critics have accused Otse of misappropriating the funds, citing unverified claims of him acquiring a new Mercedes-Benz AMG.

As the situation unfolds, Otse has committed to providing further updates on the investigation and recovery of the missing funds.
