The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 internal Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Announcing the results in Minna, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said a total of 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 percent, scored five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.

He disclosed that 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination—comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females—while 1,358,339 candidates (680,292 males and 678,047 females) actually sat for the papers.

According to him, 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 percent, secured five credits irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

Wushishi revealed that results from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld following a communal clash that disrupted examinations between July 7 and 25, 2025, affecting 13 subjects and 29 papers. He said discussions were ongoing with the government to arrange fresh examinations for the affected schools.

The Registrar further disclosed that 38 schools across 13 states implicated in mass cheating would be invited to the Council’s headquarters for investigations before sanctions are applied.

In addition, nine supervisors—three each from Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and one each from Niger, Kano, and Osun States—were recommended for blacklisting over alleged poor supervision, aiding and abetting malpractice, lateness, unruly conduct, assault, and insubordination.
