Controversial Musician, Portable, Slaps Pastor Preaching in His Bar

by Nelson Ugwuagbo September 10, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Controversial Nigerian musician, Portable, has been entangled in a fresh scandal after he was caught on camera slapping a pastor for preaching at his bar.

The shocking incident was captured on Instagram Live, allowing viewers to witness the altercation unfold in real-time.

According to reports, the pastor had visited Portable’s bar to spread the word of God, but the musician took exception to the preacher’s presence, deeming it a disruption to his business. In a now-trending video on social media, Portable can be seen angrily warning the pastor to leave his establishment.

The confrontation quickly escalated, with Portable becoming increasingly agitated by the pastor’s refusal to vacate the premises. Despite attempts to calm him down, Portable’s anger boiled over, culminating in him slapping the pastor.

The altercation didn’t end there, as the confrontation spilled outside the bar, with Portable and the pastor continuing to exchange heated words.

Portable’s behavior has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some defending his right to protect his business, while others have condemned his violent outburst against a man of the cloth.

The incident has added to Portable’s notorious reputation, cementing his status as one of Nigeria’s most controversial musicians.

Mark Onyekachi Captures Nigeria’s First Gold at Paris2024 Paralympics

by Nelson Ugwuagbo September 6, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Nigeria’s Onyinyechi Mark delivered a stunning performance, setting multiple World Records to win the GOLD medal in the women’s Up to 61kg Para-Powerlifting event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Mark’s impressive journey began with a lift of 140kg, which would have been enough to secure a medal and positioned her strongly for the GOLD. Her closest competitor, China’s Jianjin Cui, attempted 130kg on her first try, but Mark’s dominance was evident from the start.

For her second attempt, Mark chose a lift of 145kg, surpassing the existing Paralympic Record by 3kg. She executed the lift with ease, setting a new Paralympic Record and solidifying her top position.

Mark continued to push boundaries, returning to the stage for another lift and raising the bar to an extraordinary 147kg. This lift not only secured her the GOLD medal but also broke her own World Record.

In an astonishing display of strength, Mark surpassed her previous records just 10 minutes later with a phenomenal 150kg lift, setting yet another World Record. This achievement means Mark has now set the last three World Records in the women’s Up to 61kg Para-Powerlifting category: 146kg, 147kg, and 150kg.

Mark’s incredible performance earned her the GOLD medal, while Jianjin Cui claimed Silver with a lift of 140kg, and Mexico’s Amalia Perez Vazquez secured Bronze with 135kg.”

JUST IN: Ugandan Olympian set on fire by boyfriend is dead

by Folarin Kehinde September 5, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei has died in Kenya four days after being set on fire by her boyfriend, Ugandan athletics officials said Thursday.

“We have learnt of the sad passing on of our Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei… following a vicious attack by her boyfriend,” the president of the Uganda Olympic Committee Donald Rukare said in a post on X.

“This was a cowardly and senseless act that has led to the loss of a great athlete. Her legacy will continue to endure,” he added.

According to police, a man identified as Cheptegei’s partner, Dickson Ndiema Marangach, allegedly doused her with petrol and set her alight on Sunday at her home in Endebess in the western county of Trans-Nzoia.

The incident took place just weeks after Cheptegei, 33, had taken part in the marathon at the Paris Olympics, where she placed 44th.

Cheptegei suffered burns to 80 per cent of her body and had been fighting for her life at a Kenyan hospital since the acting head of the facility told reporters on Tuesday.

“All her organs failed last night,” a medic at the facility, the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), told AFP on Thursday.

Kenyan media had reported that one of Cheptegei’s daughters witnessed the assault at her mother’s home.

“He kicked me while I tried to run to the rescue of my mother,” Kenya’s The Standard reported her as saying.

“I immediately cried out for help, attracting a neighbour who tried to extinguish the flames with water, but it was not possible,” said the girl, who has not been named.

Marangach was also wounded in the incident, sustaining 30 per cent burns on his body.

The Uganda Athletics Federation also reported Cheptegei’s death in a statement on X.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei early this morning who tragically fell victim to domestic violence,” it said.

“Osimhen Agrees to Join Chelsea in Blockbuster Transfer Worth €350,000-per-week”

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has reportedly agreed a €350,000-a-deal contract with Chelsea.

This is according to UEFA accredited sports journalist, Oma Akatugba.

Akatugba claims that Osimhen initially demanded €500,000-a-week to make the move.

He however insisted that the deal is not yet wrapped up amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Akatugba wrote on X on Thursday: “The Victor Osimhen transfer saga seems to be leaning toward a move to Chelsea.

“According to my sources — not Victor or anyone from his camp — as of 11pm. last night, he agreed to a weekly wage of €350,000 with Chelsea.

“Initially, he sought €500,000 per week, but Chelsea persuaded him to accept the lower figure.

“However, Chelsea fans shouldn’t celebrate just yet, as this drama is far from over. The Saudi clubs are still in the race and are offering even more money.”

Nigeria’s participation at the Paris Olympics is a big WIN – Ex Nigeria Golf President

by Folarin Kehinde August 12, 2024
written by Folarin Kehinde

While it is saddening that Nigeria performed far below her inherent potentials at this Olympic festival, the Nigerian contingent satisfied the most important and fundamental aspect of the Olympic Games, the joy of participation in the Games in the spirit of olympism and the Nigerian Athletes conducted themselves well as international athletes that they are .

Medals are important and very desirable for any country and for the Athletes but the aim of reviving the ancient Greek festival and founding of the modern International Olympic Games by the legendary Baron. Pierre De Coubertin some 128 years ago
still remains to bring the World together in one place competing in peace ,friendship, joy and human solidarity .

One can only imagine the quantum of life long friendships that were generated during the two week long Paris Olympiad.

It has surely made the World a better place.

For the Nigerian contingent of 162 people, simply means a minimum of 162 new friendship pages were opened across the globe further fostering international peace and understanding.

Any price for promoting peace and preventing conflicts is worth it.
Nigeria’s active participation at the Olympics is in furtherance of international peace and cooperation

It was a delight seeing an iranian Athlete wrestling an american Athlete at the Paris Olympics and hugging each other happily without reservation at the end of the duel irrespective of the outcome .

“A friendship that Sports cannot create does not exist”

Nigeria has satisfactorily fulfilled her obligations to the international Olympic movement , even though winning some medals would have simply been some good icing on the Olympic cake.

Nigeria definitely needs to re-strategize to return to international sporting reckoning .

We have all it takes to be a force in World Sports .

For the Paris Olympiad ,Nigeria and her Athletes have played the needful and rightful role well.

Peter Okoye of P Square Pens Emotional Letter To Brother Paul Okoye

by Nelson Ugwuagbo August 12, 2024
written by Nelson Ugwuagbo

Peter Okoye otherwise known as Mr P, of the Famous P square, has penned an open letter to his brother Paul Okoye following their recent altercation.

In the letter, Peter accused his brother of always looking down on him and discrediting his efforts. He reminded Paul that none of them was bigger than their brotherhood, stating that the fans fell in love with P square not Rudeboy or Mr P.

Here is the contents of the letter in details.

Dear Brother

Just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes.

In your recent interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-SQUARE songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI “EjeaJo,” which I wrote, was a failure. You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me once again.

You never acknowledged the other songs like “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” “Roll It,” “Temptation,” “Alingo,” “More than a Friend,” “Shekini,” “Say Your Love,” “Gimme Dat,” “Senorita,” “IGBEdu,” and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?

Every time I have spoken in interviews about P-SQUARE, I have always used “we” and “us” because I saw us as a team. But whenever you speak, it’s always “I” and “me,” even when I’m standing right beside you. It’s as if I never existed.

My brother, neither of us is the most talented artist in the world, but you fail to understand that God gave us this talent and even granted us another chance to excel after our last breakup. Instead, you chose to turn the most awarded and decorated music group in Africa into a laughingstock again.

One thing you need to understand clearly is that the fans didn’t fall in love with P-SQUARE because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-SQUARE was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-SQUARE because of our uniqueness and unity.

We both have talent, no doubt, and I have often praised you in our interviews for your songwriting ability. I have also praised anyone who has ever written a song for us or even for me as Mr. P. But instead of showing gratitude for my kind words, you seem to find satisfaction in rubbing it in my face, forgetting that it is by God’s grace that we have come this far.

ToRather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, you chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-SQUARE group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me.

You are always claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist, in fact you are everything including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, even the choreographer. You are the Author and Finisher of P-SQUARE! In fact, I dash you 100% of everything instead of the 99% you claim.

I blame myself for not responding to your tweet claims in April 2015 that you wrote and sang all of P-SQUARE’s songs. I didn’t respond to these false claims for the sake of peace, as advised by family and friends, and now I am paying dearly for it.

So, my brother, let me ask you: Is Rudeboy or Mr P bigger and more successful than P-SQUARE today? Are we individually selling out arenas and stadiums like P-SQUARE used to? Are we topping world music charts with our songs as solo artistes?

Do we command crowds and entertain massive audiences like P-SQUARE?
I often find myself wondering, what do you truly gain by constantly disrespecting and belittling me all the time. You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas, and even sided with Jude when he was clearly trying to oppress me.

Now, it feels like you have taken it even further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them believe I’m jealous of you.

You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them.

I hope you are happy now. I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro! As for those who believe these lies and false narratives and come to my page to drop negative comments, I understand because you have been fed the wrong narrative for a long time.

Please allow me to focus and do my music in peace.
As for the EFCC matter, I will address it before the end of today. Stay tuned! Peace
