The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified all processes through which former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The court also invalidated the emergence of former Senate President David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola and other party officials as national officers of the ADC.
Justice Peter Odo Lifu delivered the judgment on Thursday while ruling on a suit filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a Deputy National Chairman of the party.
The judge upheld Gombe’s challenge to the emergence of Mark and Aregbesola as leaders of the ADC, ruling that the processes through which they assumed their positions were unlawful and illegal.
Consequently, the court nullified all nominations made by the affected party leadership for the 2027 general elections.
The ruling effectively invalidates the party’s existing candidate nomination processes, including Atiku’s emergence, as well as the leadership structure established under Mark and Aregbesola.
