written by Folarin Kehinde

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, has distanced himself from a viral video advertising a drug.

A Facebook advert campaign, featuring an alleged image of the clergyman, had circulated online.

One of the video clips, posted via the handle ‘Africa Health Centre’, depicted Adeboye advertising a “unique remedy for prostatitis”.

In response, Adeboye released a statement on his Facebook page, clarifying that the motion picture was AI-generated, and urged the general public to disregard it.

The statement reads: “I have been made aware of disturbing AI-generated videos circulating online, falsely advertising certain drugs and scholarships, intended to deceive and mislead people.

“These videos are NOT from me, and I want to make it clear that I have no involvement in such promotions. I urge all of you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, to be vigilant and not fall for these fraudulent schemes.

They are designed to exploit your trust for selfish gain. Please do not share or engage with these posts.

“I encourage you to report these fake accounts and videos immediately on all social media platforms. Together, we can ensure that such deception does not spread further.

“These malicious acts by ‘Africa Health Centre’ and ‘Church-Funded Scholarships’ are already being dealt with by the relevant authorities, as we will not allow God’s name to be used in vain for such wickedness. Let us continue to stay in the truth, walk in love, and remain focused on the genuine work of the Kingdom.”

FIFA to Award $125 Million Prize to 2025 Club World Cup Champion

by Folarin Kehinde March 26, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

The winner of this year’s expanded Club World Cup in the United States will receive up to $125 million in prize money, FIFA announced on Wednesday.

A total prize fund of $1 billion for the event, which runs from June 14 to July 13, had already been made public, but FIFA has now broken down the sums for the 32 participating teams.

Each team will share in the $525 million pot for participating while a further $475 million will be distributed according to performance in the tournament.

With additional bonuses, the team that emerges victorious from the seven matches played could receive up to $125 million.

Europe will receive the lion’s share of the prize money, with each of their clubs receiving between $12.81 and $38.19 million, the exact amounts to be determined according to sporting and commercial criteria.

South American teams will each receive $15.21 million in participation bonuses, while those from North and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa will receive $9.55 million.

Auckland City, the Oceania representative, will take home $3.58 million for taking part.

“The distribution model… represents the biggest prize money ever awarded to a competition comprising a group stage and a knockout phase,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a press release.

“In addition to the prize money earmarked for the participating clubs, an unprecedented solidarity programme will be put in place with the aim of redistributing an additional $250 million to football around the world.”

Infantino said all proceeds from the event will be redistributed to club football.

written by Folarin Kehinde

President Bola Tinubu has signed the South-West and South-South Development Commission bills into law.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, made the announcement during plenary on Wednesday.

“No mechanism is too much to trickle down development and dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

“I am sure that with these development commissions, the impact of this administration will be felt by the grassroots.

“We thank Mr president for completing it to the entire geo-political zones,” Kalu said.

During Tuesday’s plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio confirmed that the President has signed the South-West Development Commission Bill and South-South Development Commission Bill into law.

“Just to inform distinguished senators that Mr President has assented to the remaining regional development bills, the South-west Development Commission Bill and the South-south Development Commission Bill. We now have all the developmental commissions legally in existence,” Akpabio said.

Akpabio expressed appreciation to Tinubu for his cooperation with the National Assembly and for signing the bills establishing the commissions into law.

He said the commissions would create more jobs for Nigerians and facilitate grassroots development.

“We thank the president. We are grateful for his cooperation. We are grateful for creating jobs. We are also grateful to have taken development to the grassroots level,” he added.

The established regional commissions are tasked with enhancing infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare within their respective regions.

“Na Your Mama Be This” – Students Disgrace Tinubu’s Wife, Remi, in Delta State

by Folarin Kehinde March 26, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

Students of the Delta State School of Nursing, Agbor, openly rejected an attempt to hail Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, during her visit to the institution.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Remi Tinubu visited Delta State as part of her advocacy for free treatment programs for HIV/AIDS patients across the country.

During her address to the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council in Asaba, she spoke about the impact of HIV/AIDS, particularly among young people. She urged traditional rulers to raise awareness and support health initiatives, including the fight against female genital mutilation.

However, a viral video from the event captured a moment when the Master of Ceremony (MC) tried to lead the audience in a song praising the First Lady.

He sang, “Na my mama be this o, we no get another one.”

In response, the students replied, “Na your mama be this ooooo.”

The incident has drawn attention online, with many linking it to growing dissatisfaction with the federal government.

President Bola Tinubu has faced criticism over economic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which many believe have worsened economic hardship in the country.

2027: I will ensure you lose again – Wike taunts Atiku

by Folarin Kehinde March 26, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday declared that he would ensure that former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, fails in his push for the presidency.

Speaking through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said he has no regret that Atiku refused to pick him as his running mate during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

In an interview with Adesina Giwa-Osagie, Atiku said he had “no regrets” for ignoring Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

DAILY POST recalls that the rift between Atiku and Wike dates back to the controversial PDP primaries of 2022.

Wike had expected to be compensated with the vice-presidential slot, but Atiku picked former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Addressing why he chose Okowa over Wike, Atiku stated that he deliberately left the decision to the PDP.

They said I did not consult widely in 2019 when I picked Peter Obi as my running mate, so in 2023, I told the party to set up a committee to recommend three names,” Atiku said.

Atiku said the committee ranked Okowa as the top choice, with Wike in second place and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel in third.

“So I picked number one,” he said.

Responding, Olayinka said Wike has no regret over losing the slot to Okowa.

Posting on X, Olayinka wrote: “Two years after making the @OfficialPDPNig lose a presidential election it could have won, @atiku is giving reasons he did not pick @GovWike as his running mate and that he has no regrets.

“Someone should tell our serial presidential election contester that Wike also has no regret for ensuring that he failed in the election and will make sure that he fails again and again.”

Democracy has strengthened, not collapsed, Presidency warns Peter Obi over divisive comment

by Folarin Kehinde March 26, 2025
written by Folarin Kehinde

The Presidency has warned the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Peter Obi, to watch his comments, saying that he should restrain himself from playing to the gallery.

Reacting to a statement credited to Mr Peter Obi that democracy has collapse in Nigeria, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy in a post on his verified X handle said democracy has strengthened in the last 26 years in the country.

Onanuga said, “I listened multiple times to former Governor Peter Obi’s statement where he claimed that democracy has collapsed in Nigeria. His hyperbolic remarks, suited for headlines, have been made without deep reflection and lack a solid logical foundation.

“How can a democracy that has strengthened over the past 26 years be said to have collapsed?” adding that “Only a discontented and disgruntled Peter, who benefits from the very free speech democracy provides, could perceive such a democratic downfall through his lens.”

Onanuga said “If democracy had indeed collapsed, as Peter claims, and we were living under a regime antithetical to democratic principles, he would not have been able to make his comments on Monday at Emeka Ihedioha’s colloquium. I will urge him to watch what he says and restrain himself from playing to the gallery.”
