Umara, a student at a university in New Delhi, reportedly smashed a bottle of alcoholic drink on the Chinese man who showed interest in the same lady as the governor’s son.

Umar Zulum Umara, son of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has been arrested for killing a Chinese national during a fight over a woman at a nightclub in India.

Umara, a student at a university in New Delhi, reportedly smashed a bottle of alcoholic drink on the Chinese man who showed interest in the same lady as the governor’s son.

LeadingReporters learnt that the incident happened two weeks ago, while Governor Zulum alongside the governors of Adamawa and Yobe states were in Pakistan, attending a post insurgency workshop.

A source close to the family revealed that it was history repeating itself, as according to him, the governor had while at the same age as his son hit a man to death during a fight.

The source who spoke on condition of anonymity further disclosed that the reckless lifestyle of the members of the governor’s family is in public domain in Borno State.

“Make no mistake, Governor Zulum’s son is the Nigerian governor’s son you heard about who killed someone in India.

“What happened was that the boy engaged a Chinese national in a fight over a lady at a night club in India and Zulum’s son smashed a bottle on his head and it led to his death.

“He was arrested by the police. This happened at a time the governor alongside Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa and Governor Mai Buni of Yobe were in Pakistan some two weeks ago.

“Zulum was billed to travel to the United States after the Pakistani engagement, but he abruptly abandoned the trip and flew to India after receiving news of the tragic incident.

“There in India, he made frantic efforts to resolve the matter with the Chinese parents of the deceased person; they actually obliged him but the Indian authorities insisted that the murder was a crime against the Indian State and not the deceased or even his parents.

“He returned home to Nigeria to garner support and was able to enlist the current agriculture minister, Abubakar Kyari; together, they tried to convince the Indian embassy to wade into the matter but to no avail.

“Based on the information available to us, his son is currently in detention and would be prosecuted in due course.

written by Folarin Kehinde

The lifting of the visa ban on Nigerian passport holders by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government comes with modified conditions for obtaining a UAE visa requiring the payment of a nonrefundable fee of N688,000.

The major requirement is a compulsory document verification process for all Nigerian travellers above 13 years before they can proceed with the visa application process. Travelers must first obtain a Document Verification Number (DVN) upon successful review.

The Document Verification Hub, a specialised service designed to authenticate and verify documentation essential for visa applications, is where Nigerian travellers must verify their documents. This mandatory verification process requires a non-refundable fee of N688,000 and N48,000 for the 7.5% Value Added Tax.

To obtain a UAE visa, Nigerian passport holders must fulfil five requirements: Document Verification Number (DVN): A valid DVN confirming the authenticity of submitted documents; Proof of Bank Account: A six-month bank statement showing a minimum balance of $10,000 USD; Round-Trip Flight Tickets: Evidence of booked round-trip flight tickets; Hotel Booking: Proof of a confirmed and paid hotel booking; Visa Fee Payment: The visa fee must be paid by credit card at the UAE Visa Centre in Abuja, Nigeria. For Nigerians residing abroad, the fee can be paid at the nearest UAE Visa Centre.

written by Folarin Kehinde

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has said that his husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has deep love for Nigerians despite the economic hardship the citizens are experiencing.

The first lady made this known when she paid the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu a courtesy visit, according to a statement on Tuesday by her Media Aide, Busola Kukoyi.

She assured that President Tinubu would do well to address the challenges facing the country.

On his part, Oba Akiolu urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu’s administration.

“All that I am saying and appealing is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” he said.

This comes as Nigerians grapple with high headline and food inflation which stood at 34.19 percent and 40.87 respectively.

Consequently, the purchasing power of Nigerians has continued to wane as hunger bites harder.
