T. B. Joshua: Photos From Lying-In-State Ceremony

by Leading Reporters July 9, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

The late Prophet T. B.Joshua was honoured today as the funeral rites continued via a lying-in-state ceremony which took place at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Lagos.

In attendance were the deceased’s widow, children, and members of his church who all paid their last respects to the late clergyman.

T.B, Joshua died on the 5th of June, 2021, a few days to what would have been his 58th birthday. Following his demise, a South African bible scholar named Howard Nyoni claimed that the cleric secretly treated himself for an undisclosed ailment.

Also, a fetish Ghanaian priest had boasted in a video that he killed Joshua, saying that he had given the latter an ultimatum of 10 years to live.

Prominent Nigerians paid a condolence visit to Joshua’s widow, following criticism of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) by controversial OAP Daddy Freeze who called the association out for keeping mum on the death of the SCOAN founder.

Below are the pictures of the lying-in-state:

FG Restate Commitment to Promote Energy Efficiency and Security for All

by Leading Reporters July 9, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Kenny Folarin, Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has restated the commitment of his administration towards promoting energy efficiency and ensuring energy security to all Nigerians.

The President stated this at the official commissioning of the 1.52 MWp/2.28 MWh Solar Microgrid System built by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, said that the 1.52 MegaWatts Solar System is a project that delivers on so many of the Federal Government’s commitments at the Local and International levels.

The President explained that the Solar Microgrid System is part of Nigeria’s commitment to the Paris Climate Change Agreement which he signed on behalf of the country to reduce carbon emission globally.

He commended the Ministry of Works and Housing, saying that the project has placed the Federal Government as a champion on the use of renewable energy, not just off-grid and for the last-mile, but also within urban contexts for commercial users.

Similarly, the President noted that the project has added to government objective of economy Plan of Ease of doing Business which is a major objective of the Federal Government economic plan to grow the economy and create jobs.. He urged other MDAs to key into the initiative.

In his keynote address, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola,SAN said that the project was approved by the Federal Executive Council on the 20th March 2019 at the time the Ministry of Power was part of Works and Housing.

“I express our appreciation to members of the Federal Executive Council who voted to entrust our Ministry with this project,” he said.

Explaining the scope of the project, Fashola said the Ministry has delivered a 1.52 MegaWatts Solar System based on the mandate of the Federal Executive Council, and it would provide uninterrupted power supply to 5 blocks housing the Ministry of Works and Housing and Ministry of Environment and Lands.

In fulfillment of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of creating jobs, the Minister said that the project employed 382 artisans and 176 skilled workers throughout its duration.

Continuing, he said that the project would see to the reduction of average diesel consumption from 764,248 litres per annum to 166,825 litres per annum and cost saving of NGN270,945,000 over 20 years and contribute towards the reduction of government operational expenses and reduction of recurrent expenditure.

“With this investment we have built our own Mini-Grid, in consonance with our Administration’s policy to promote off grid option, thereby making more of the on-grid power available to ordinary Nigerians who cannot afford the cost of investing in off-grid power,” he said.

The impressive event also received goodwill messages from the Honourable Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Abubakar and the Deputy Secretary General of United Nations, Hajiya Amina Mohammed.

DSS Invasion: I demand Public Apology,N500 Million In Damage says Sunday Igboho

by Leading Reporters July 5, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Yoruba right’s activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly referred to as Sunday Igboho has demanded a sum of N500million in compensation for the damages he incurred after his home was invaded by officials from the Department of State Security (DSS).

The demand was made through his legal representative in a press statement signed by Chief Yomi Alliyu SAN.

In the statement, a demand of N500 Million was claimed for damages done to exotic cars in the premises invaded. The cars damaged include a Mercedes Benz G-Class and a 2019 Lexus Car.

“One thousand euro, two million naira, expensive jewelleries worth millions, travel documents, amulets, iPhone 12 belonging to him, phones of about 15 others living in the house including those killed by the raiders and other belongings yet to be identified belonging to his wives were carted away,” the statement read in part.

Alliyu demanded a public apology to his client and called for an investigation into the propriety of the actions of the various security operatives led by the DSS that raided Sunday Igboho’s home.

Addressing the issue of weapons allegedly found in the Activists’ house, the Senior Advocate posited that it is elementary law that whenever a search warrant is to be executed on a house, the house owner must first search the persons sent to execute same and also sign the inventory of what were recovered in executing the warrant.

“The rampaging operatives were disappointed that they could allegedly not find a single gun or ammunition in our client’s house hence their arresting two (2) police escorts of Mr Sunday Igboho’s guests and added their guns to those harvested from their armoury with a view to making members of the public believe that our client keeps militia or as stated by them, he is about waging war on Nigeria.

“People who know our client of over 20 years will testify that Igboho Oosa does not carry gun on his person”

The Senior Advocate added that trampling Sunday Adeyemo’s fundamental rights including tagging him as criminal by exhibiting weapons belonging to the DSS needed to stop.

“In any case as admirers of this government and one Nigeria, we personally implore all the Governors of the Southwest States that know the yearnings of their people and Igboho’s large followership to wade in before it becomes a hydra-headed security problem in all their domains,” the statement read.

We are Counsel to Chief Sunday Adeyemo otherwise known as Sunday Igboho Oosa and we have his standing instructions to defend and act as Counsel in all situations we deem appropriate, especially where his fundamental rights as a Citizen of Nigeria is violated or threatened as done on Thursday 1st July, 2021.

Every Nigerian, albeit the whole world, is aware that in his open crusade for the establishment of Oodua Republic our client has always preached peace and warned his followers never to have recourse to violence saying that “it is God and alale” that will fight for Yoruba Nation. We can boldly say that as people who followed his campaign, but not necessarily supporting dismemberment of Nigeria, that no casualty has ever occurred wherever such rallies were carried out. This must have been done in more than 20 Yoruba towns and cities as at date.

To now invade the residence of such a peace-loving crusader is tantamount to calling a dog a bad name to hang it. It must be reiterated, and with emphasis, that it is the right of a group of homogeneous and/or indigenous people in a Federation to ask for self-determination in accordance with the rules of international law and UNO Charter. Our Constitution also permits freedom of association and, by necessary implications, freedom to dissociate.

We were reliably informed that DSS and other security forces invaded the residence of our Client in wee hours of the day ( between 1.00hr and 4.30hrs). There is no where in civilised world that a citizen who had no prior invitation by security agent or resisting arrest will be so invaded with his rights to dignity of human persons, ownership of property and sanctity of life trampled upon during the invasion. S. 12 of Administration of Criminal Justice Act enjoins the police and/or any security operatives to first make a demand to enter a place where a suspect is and if their demand was not granted to break open the “outer or inner door of any house or place.” No demand to enter was made but rather they shot their way into the house allegedly killing seven.

Though the DSS spokesman admitted killing two people which involved an old imam that used to lead Muslim occupants in prayers and observing TAHJUD at the time of the barbaric raid. A lady among the invaders was allegedly shouting, “if you get him gun him down.” There and then, our client knew that the mission was to get rid of him and NOT to arrest him. This belief becomes more realistic in view of the fact that the CCTV recorder was off and taken away so that the carnage will not be shown to members of the public. Our client then knew that he was to be taking dead or alive as allegedly stated by the lady among the raiders

It should be stated that without any resistance or shooting at the security operatives they started shooting from the gate and ensuring that the building was totally made uninhabitable. Also, all the expensive vehicles in our client’s house were shot at and destroyed.

The rampaging operatives were disappointed that they could allegedly not find a single gun or ammunition in our client’s house hence their arresting two (2) police escorts of Mr Sunday Igboho’s guests and added their guns to those harvested from their armoury with a view to making members of the public to believe that our client keeps militia or as stated by them, he is about waging war on Nigeria. Will this be with his mere amulets. People who know our client for over 20 years will testify that Igboho Oosa does not carry gun on his person.

It is elementary law that whenever a search warrant is executed on a house the house owner must first search the persons sent to execute same and also sign the inventory of what were recovered in executing the warrant!

This explains why the DSS invaded the house in the night shooting everything at sight, killing and maiming the occupants to plant their illegal guns on our client. We have also been reliably informed that those arrested were being tortured to incriminate our client that guns and ammunitions were recovered from his house. Sunday Igboho knew that he would be arrested one day hence retaining our services. He could not be that daft to keep incriminating articles in his house! Our client’s house is a 5 bedroom duplex with 5 chalets of 2 and 3 bedrooms. These were totally damaged with operatives allegedly arguing on whether to burn down the edifice as done to his former palatial house. The lady officer allegedly put her foot down against arson.

One thousand euro, two million naira, expensive jewelleries worth millions, travel documents, amulets, iPhone 12 belonging to him, phones of about 15 others living in the house including those killed by the raiders, and other belongings yet to be identified belonging to his wives were carted away. The only guns were those of the police escorts of his guests!

More importantly, the DSS and other operatives that raided the house said they came to arrest Sunday Igboho but ended up arresting innocent people in lieu of him. Apart from being a serious violation of these peoples’ peoples constitutional rights it is an assault on s. 7 of ACJA and decisions of our Courts in that regard.

We hereby demand that the Federal Government orders an investigation into the actions of the various security operatives led by DSS that raided Chief Sunday Adeyemo’s house with a view to sanctioning them and release all the innocent people arrested and compensate the families of those murdered. Our client should also be paid #500million as reparation for damage to his exotic cars that include Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus Car. We also demand a public apology.

Most importantly, trampling of our client’s fundamental rights including tagging him as criminal by exhibiting DSS guns as his should stop forthwith. In any case, as admirers of this government and one Nigeria we personally implore all the Governors of the Southwest States that know the yearnings of their people and Igboho’s large followership to wade in before it becomes hydra-headed security problems in all their domains.

Buhari’s Medical Tourism: FG spent ₦6.4 billion on Aso Villa Clinic in six years

by Leading Reporters July 5, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

After a year-long break due to the Covid 19 travel restrictions, President Buhari has resumed his usual medical trips to the United Kingdom. This is in spite of the huge annual budget allocations to his official hospital at the Villa. The federal government had budgeted N6.4 billion for the Aso Villa Clinic in the past 6 years.

Analysis of the State House budgets reveal that for every N1,000 to be spent on healthcare for 200 million individuals in Nigeria, the Federal government planned to spend ₦3 on the president’s clinic in the period 2016-2021.

In 2016, specifically, it was N1 to the president’s clinic for every N100 meant for the healthcare of the entire population in Nigeria. Yet, it was in this year that President Muhammadu Buhari began travelling abroad for his medical treatment.

Details of Budget Allocation to State House Clinic (2016 – 2021)

There has been a consistent increase in the amount budgeted for health in the last six years (2016-2021). However, the federal government’s highest budget of N2.83 billion Naira for the state house clinic was in 2016, the same year the smallest amount was budgeted for the health of the general public, estimated at N250 billion.

A budget reveals the priority of an individual, business or government. Nigeria’s budgets over the years show that the federal government of Nigeria prioritises the health of the president, his family and staff, possibly higher than that of the other individuals in the country.

In spite of these huge sums invested in the health of the President’s family, it is not clear why the President’s clinic still cannot cater for his healthcare needs.

At various occasions, the wife of the President and his daughter have registered their displeasure about the quality of service at the President’s clinic. Back in 2017, the President’s wife lamented, “I called the Aso Clinic to find out if they have an X-Ray machine, they said it’s not working.. In the end I had to go to a hospital owned and operated by foreigners 100 per cent…“There is a budget for the Hospital and if you go there now, you will see a number of constructions going on but they don’t have a single syringe there. What is the purpose of the buildings if there are [sic] no equipment there to work with?”

However, it appeared Mrs Buhari’s frustrations concerned political executive families like hers, rather than the two hundred million who grapple with worse or non-existent healthcare facilities everyday in Nigeria: “You can imagine what happens across the states to governors wives if this will happen to me in Abuja,” she had said.

A report by the Cable noted that “the combined N3.1billion budgetary allocation to the clinic in 2016 and 2017 was higher than the combined allocation to all the tertiary healthcare centres in the country!”

The State house medical centre was established to cater to the medical needs of the president, the vice-president, their families and presidential aides. Yet, President Buhari ignores the same hospital. Instead, he travels out of the country for weeks and sometimes for months to get medical attention. A close aide of his too died without finding medical succour at the supposedly model hospital, right at the seat of power. News Source: Dataphyte

by Leading Reporters July 3, 2021

A medical scan done on the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has revealed that his heart has enlarged by about 13% due to extreme torture and dehumanizing situation he undergoes, his lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor has claimed.

Barrister Ejiofor said that his client – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was actually abducted by the accursed Kenya’s Special Police Force on the 18th of June 2021 at their International Airport, and consequently taken to an undisclosed residence under dehumanizing conditions.

He was tortured and subjected to all forms of inhuman treatment which worsened his health condition. He was illegally detained for eight (8) good DAYS in Kenya before being transfered to their Nigerian counterpart.

He was purportedly investigated on a bogus charge while in their custody, ostensibly, awaiting to be handed over after their findings proved him innocent of all the spurious allegations. They later beckoned on their Nigerian Counterpart to take over.

Kenyan Government was deeply involved in the abduction, detention and ill-treatment of my Client before the illegal handover to their Nigerian counterpart.

A scan of his heart showed that the heart has enlarged by 13% due to the dehumanizing treatment meted to him. There will be need for immediate proper medical examination and attention for him.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu conveyed his goodwill message to all IPOB family members worldwide, and craved for your unrelentless prayers.

We are going back to the Court for the needful. Other details cannot be entertained here.

His fortified legal team will address these infractions at the proper forum as we progress. Other details on our legal strategy, may not be made public.

Nigeria’s economy: contracts negotiators lacks knowledge, we’re fleeced – Osinbajo

by Leading Reporters July 1, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, lashed out at officials negotiating contracts on behalf of Nigeria, saying that they are bereft of the required knowledge to represent the country.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day physical and virtual capacity building training for Nigerian negotiators organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osinbajo noted that the quality of the officials who represented the country at negotiations reflects in the nation’s economy.

He stressed that the poorly negotiated agreements and poor monitoring were the prominent causes of financial losses by nations.

Tbe Special Assistant to the President on Economic Matters, Dr Yemi Dipeolu, who also spoke at the event said the nation must develop “a corps of negotiators who could tackle the menace of illicit financial flows.”

The training was organised in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Committee on Stopping Illicit Financial Flows from Nigeria.

Dangote Not A Creative, Foresighted Investor That Can Survive In A Competitive Business Environment:

by Leading Reporters June 30, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Most recently, news broke that Aliko Dangote was moving 60% of his family investment to the US. Few days after, we saw him in Tanzania promising to increase his investment in the country because he wants to support the new president, whose business decisions have been investment friendly. I am happy for him. He has sense.

But as a businessman, I am not sure Dangote is a model. Don’t take my word for it. Let the data speak:

In October 2016, Dansa, Dangote’s fruit juice company packed up because it wasn’t making profit. It closed shop, owing its workers 6 months’ salary.

He also started a $13 million tomato processing plant in March 2016 and closed shop in August 2017, saying it was because of “importation of tomato paste, shortfall in the supply of fresh tomatoes and power failure.” It is funny that they didn’t consider these three factors before commencing.

So they started a tomato farm that will supply fresh tomatoes, and then do some kind of backward integration. After spending $3million to set up a green house, the farm died. It has been starting and stopping since then. No money, no tomatoes, no factory.

In November 2017, it was the turn of Dangote noodles to go under. In his words, they wanted to “focus on pasta and flour.” He sold the noodles factory to his biggest rival, Dufil, makers of Indomie. It was like Coca-Cola buying a Pepsi plant; a business abomination.

Have you ever wondered what happened to Mowa Water Dangote’s bottled water? Well, it went down with Dansa, or soon after.

Then his Dangote Flour was acquired by Olam in 2019. He left the noodles business to concentrate on flour. But even the “commitment to flour” wasn’t enough to stop Dangote Flour from baking and burning.

At the start of the Ramadan fast, Dangote Sugar wrote a petition against BUA Sugar, asking the FG to place trade sanctions on BUA for “undermining the National Sugar Master Plan.” In English, he wanted the FG to tilt the competition in his favour again by grounding BUA. BUA claimed that he was being blackmailed because he refused to hike sugar prices at Ramadan, like Dangote did.

Here is my point: wherever and whenever there is competition, Dangote would either cop out, or tap out, or try to change the business rules in his favour using his government connections. He couldn’t sell water because he was competing with pure water sellers; he couldn’t sell noodles because of Indomie: he couldn’t sell flour because of Honeywell; he couldn’t sell tomato paste because of Derika and other pepper sellers in the market. He couldn’t sell fruit juice because of 5-Alive. Dangote would only do well where the policy was in his favour and competitors were given a bad hand by government regulators.

I read a Reuters report some years ago (and it’s still online) which revealed that at the height of the naira-dollar crisis of 2016, Dangote bought at least $161million in hard currency from the CBN directly within March to May 2016. This was 90% of all the USD that the CBN sold within that period. All other manufacturers – all 2,000 of them – got the balance of 10%. He bought the USD at the official rate of N197/199 while other businesses bought in the black market at N320. Reuters reported that Dangote made over $100 million from this Forex deal.

Dangote has always been the favourite side chic of every government since the return to democracy. In 2003, he was alleged to have part-funded Obasanjo’s re-election campaign when Atiku was doing anyhow. Then he befriended Yar’adua, then Goodluck, then, even Buhari. On the day Goodluck, his former zaddy was licking his wounds from the electoral defeat of 2015, Dangote was alleged to be clinking glasses and performing a lap dance for Buhari, his new zaddy.

But why would such a “successful businessman” be thinking of moving 60% of his family investment to the US, and even adding to his capital investment in Tanzania which is already about $770million? The answer is in Buhari.

In 2015 when this administration took over, Dangote’s net worth was $17.7 billion. Right now, it is $11.1 billion. Meaning that in 6 years of Buhari, he has lost about 40% of his net worth. Project two years forward: what would his net worth be in 2023? My projection is that he might be worth around $8 billion, or less, depending on what happens to his refinery, and what happens in the security mileu.

With all the favours: tax exemptions, special status, Forex allocations, special limestone mining licenses etc, Aliko’s money is still melting like cotton candy on a hot summer afternoon. He has activated his Plan B. Can you blame him?

Nigerian govt to travellers from “South Africa Don’t come”

by Leading Reporters June 29, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

The Chairman of Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 pandemic, and Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, on Monday, announced the addition of South Africa to the list of countries from where travellers are banned because of the growing cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Mustapha made the announcement during a media briefing of the Committee in Abuja.

It could be recalled that the Federal Government had in May handed a similar ban on travellers from India, Brazil and Turkey over similar concerns.

He said: “A few weeks ago, we announced additional measures to be met by passengers arriving from Brazil, Turkey and India. This action was due to the prevalence of variants of concern and the dangers associated with the importation of the such virulent strain.

“The PSC has been reviewing these restrictions and is of the opinion that they should remain for another four weeks before it is further reviewed. South Africa, has, however, been added to this category once more.

“In addition to these three countries, the PSC has also shifted its focus on some African countries. South Africa, Zambia, Rwanda, Namibia and Uganda fall in this category.

“South Africa for example, recorded over 100, 000 cases in the last one week while 20,000 was recorded in the last 24 hours. The four major variants of concern are now classified as Alpha (UK), Beta (SA); Gamma (Brazil) and Delta (India).

“The Delta variant which has wreaked devastating havoc is not yet found in Nigeria hence the need to tighten our borders and be more vigilant.”

Concerning Emirates flights in and out of Nigeria, he noted that: “In all circumstances, however, conditions placed on such flights must conform with international civil aviation standards and must not be discriminatory and must respect our sovereignty.”

While noting that the PSC has escalated surveillance and risk communication, he added that it has similarly paid close attention to the issue of vaccination, especially matters relating to access and acquisition of vaccines.

The SGF urged members of the public not to lower their guards yet because of continued spikes in some countries (including African countries) and the emergence of variants of concern in several jurisdictions where the third wave has occurred.

Speaking on violators of COVID-19 travel protocol, he stated: “About six months ago, following the violation of protocols by some inbound passengers to Nigeria, travel documents were barred for a period of 6 months.

“We have received several appeals from those affected while we counselled on the importance of compliance with rules and regulations.

“The six-month period of ban for the first batch of 100 is almost complete and we use this opportunity to reassure Nigerians that sanctions will be imposed on violators of measures put in place to protect them and safeguard our nation.

“You will recall that Nigeria introduced the first international travel portal in September last year to facilitate the travel protocols. Following observations by users, the PSC took steps to improve the performance of the travel portal so as to ease the bottlenecks experienced by travellers.”

“Additional improvements have been recorded. The vaccination programme has progressed into the second phase for those who took the first jab. However, the sources and access to vaccines constitute major challenges given the developments in India, the attendant scarcity and the rise of vaccines nationalism.

“The PSC through the NPHCDA has continued to intensify efforts to acquire vaccines for the next phase.

“For over six months Federal Government employees on GL 12 and below have been observing work-from-home instructions. This restriction remains in place until further notice in order to avert a third wave.”
