The things that should matter to Nigerian voters in 2022.

by Leading Reporters January 3, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

Where I come from, it is often said that it is not possible that a blind man, roasting a palm kernel would allow it get burnt twice. But can that be said of Nigerians? We have on several occasions not only burnt our palm kernels but also stoked the fire that burns our kernels.

While many Nigerians are thinking a good leader is going to fall on them from the sky, they keep making the same mistake of voting people who have no business in leadership. Leadership is responsibility. It is not buck passing and escapist excuses.

In the last 60 plus years with its human vicissitudes, Nigerians ought to have developed the uncanny ability to smell a conman from afar. Too many tribal and religious conmen have risen to swindle he people of their commonwealth. Sick people have arisen, and used the nation’s lean resources on boosting their health. Poor men have been voted on the platter of trust, only for them to snub the people and proceed on their own hidden agenda. Prison inmates have received pardons and have become president only to become demigods and untouchables.

We have had loud mouthed legislators whose words don’t match actions. There are those who say yes but indeed they mean an emphatic no. Still, there are people who outrightly think of gaslighting us into believing their terrible and puerile mendacious ramblings.

Suppose we put all that behind us and have a new beginning. We need to stop kowtowing to the caprices of the evil elite. Those who lost their lives defending the elite’s interests would turn in their graves, seeing that their godfathers and their ‘enemies’ have reconciled.

So, what really matters?

The past 60 years would have taught us a big lesson. Without much ado, I’d itemise what should matter to us as the elections are upon us. This year, 2022, is the most critical in our political journey. 2023 is just for the crystallisation of what we have put together in this year.

One of the lessons that should matter to us is that action, not word tells who is the man. We should refrain from believing everything we read on social media. Many people have been commissioned to turn white to black and hustle people’s minds for their patrons. They’d tell you that a Presidential candidate had raised the dead at a point or the other. They question you should ask yourself is whether this is a fact. I repeat, do not believe things you cannot verify.

The value the candidate places on human life. Human life is sacrosanct. It does not matter whether one person or a million died. Beware of anyone who tries to compare the number of deaths. Beware also , of anyone who keeps silent in the face of brutality. We are not animals. Humans show empathy. A callous, unempathic, unemotional made-of-steel leader can kill anyone without blinking. My people, please run away from such a person.

Deal with a person’s antecedents, not his rhetoric. Have his past investigated. The fact that people actually believe anything they are told , even when they are being sold dummies, is a intellectual affront. In the build up to the 2015 elections, I was in an argument with a colleague over Nigeria’s foreign reserves. What he told me got me temporarily paralysed. For an economist to believe that a country’s foreign reserve was used up!

The candidate must be able to give a timeline for his agenda. Nigerian politicians behave like a man desperate to make love to a woman. He can promise heaven and earth. He may even promise to dig his own grave. But as soon as he gets what he wants, he changes tone, talks down on the people and do totally different things. He is never interested in discussing with his people, he belongs to a new clique of opportunists whose only interest is milking the country.

A formidable legislature populated by people with academic and technical information on how to run a country. There must be a defined process of recalling people from the Chambers if their representation seems unbelievably unbecoming. Permit me to say that some people go to the legislature without a clue about what it is all about. They kowtow to the president or the governor. Ministers and commissioners ignore their invitations at will. Nigerians must insist that their legislature is particularly flooded by young brilliant minds.

The candidate must be a people’s man. Whether a governor or a president, he should see himself as the leader of the entire country or the state he governs. His actions or inactions should tell us whether he is going to be an internal colonist, a tyrant or a chauvinist. This country needs

Last but not the least, the leader must have an idea of how to run an economy. The fact that everything depends on the economy makes it the pivot around which our other daily activities revolve. We have to ensure that the person to be voted in is of a sound mind. He should be able to tell us what will happen when, how it will happen and back it up with data, projections and forecasts. Nigerians should move away from shouting yeeeeeeh! to dubious political pronouncements like ‘I will turn this nation around’. The normal reaction to this kind of statement should be curiosity.  The questions should be how, when, in what way etc.

As we start the search, let us shine our eyes. We cannot afford to be going backwards while others are progressing. A word is said to be enough for the wise.

Hunger looms after 8 days of lockdown: Chinese city Cries for Help

by Leading Reporters January 1, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

As the city of Xian in northwest China, with a population of 13 million, enters its eighth day of lockdown in an effort to manage the current cluster of COVID-19 infections, many residents are running out of food.

According to the National Health Commission, 156 new locally transmitted cases were registered nationally on Wednesday, up from 151 the day before.

155 of them were in Xian, while one was in Guangxi’s southern region.

On Wednesday, 51 imported cases were discovered in addition to the local transmissions.

Since December 9, 1,117 cases have been reported in Xian, which has a population of 13 million people.

A new round of mass testing began at 10 a.m. on Thursday, and all public activities in the city, which is famous for its Terracotta Warriors, have been prohibited.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Zhang Fenghu, a city government official, said, “Xian has reached a live-or-die stage in its fight against the virus,”

Despite the low case count in Xian compared with many clusters overseas, officials have imposed tough curbs on travel within and out of the city since Dec. 23, as Beijing demands each outbreak be contained quickly.

Many residents have been prohibited from leaving their homes unless they are taking COVID-19 tests or attending to essential matters as determined by local authorities.

These restrictions have limited access to basic necessities, leaving many people reliant on deliveries rather than going out to shop.

According to a Xian government official on Wednesday, the limits have resulted in a staffing shortage at organisations responsible for assuring the supply of basic essentials, and the government is working to resolve the problem.

One World Religion Headquarters To Open Soon.

written by Leading Reporters

The Catholic-Muslim Interfaith Council Created By Pope Francis Announces New Chrislam Headquarters Opening In 2022 That Combines A Mosque And Church According To Signed Covenant.

The announcement of the Abrahamic Family House, on the Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, follows a visit by Pope Francis to the UAE in February, the first by a pope to the Arabian Peninsula. During the trip, the pope signed a joint declaration with the grand imam of al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, that called for religious tolerance and dialogue. An interfaith council to oversee projects advancing tolerance was formed as a result of the declaration, and named the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity. The Abrahamic Family House is its first initiative.

The United Arab Emirates will build a new synagogue as part of an Chrislam interfaith compound that will also house a mosque and church and is reportedly set to open in 2022.

As far as advancing the end times timeline goes, 2019 has been a banner year for Pope Francis and the coming One World Religion. We told you back in February that the pope has travelled to Abu Dhabi where he met with Sunni Muslim leader Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb.

There the two men signed a global peace covenant called the Document On Human Fraternity For World Peace. From that covenant, the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity was created to implement this end times religious peace treaty. Now that committee has announced that there will be a fancy new headquarters for this endeavor. The shiny, new center of global Chrislam opening in 2022.

UAE To Open Chrislam Interfaith Headquarters In 2022

FROM THE TIMES OF ISRAEL: The announcement of the Abrahamic Family House, on the Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, follows a visit by Pope Francis to the UAE in February, the first by a pope to the Arabian Peninsula.

One World Religion

One world religion refers to the merging of all existing religions, to establish a single global religion. In the picture shown above, Pope Francis meets with religious leaders from all around the world, urging them to build a future together or there will be no future at all. Many premillennialist Christians believe that the Antichrist will establish one world religion, based on Satanism and the occult, associated with one world government. In ROME REPORTS, an article published on April 3, 2019 reveals Pope Francis speaking with an audience of Muslims, telling them that God wants a fraternity among Muslims and Catholics. “Conversion is not your mission, pope tells Catholics in Morocco”, according to an article in REUTERS. He encourages everyone to live in brotherhood with other faiths, which is opposite of what the bible teaches.

One World Currency

The WAll STREET JOURNAL mentions how central banks are getting closer to issuing their own digital currency, which means the dollar might face competition as the world’s dominant currency. Central banks such as the Federal Reserve already issue digital money with the Commercial banks that have accounts with them. With a digital currency, transactions could happen in real time, and fees would be lower or nonexistent. Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England, said technological developments provide the potential for such a world to emerge, but also highlighted the risks of the current dollar-dominant system and how many large nations have experimented with exploring the digital currency.

One World Government

The concept of one world government is that there can be one common political authority for all of humanity. Such a government can have jurisdiction over the entire world. This type of government can be formed through force, or peaceful and voluntary.  Globalists have the belief that uniting people of all nations will prevent conflicts and wars, creating a utopia for humanity. Conservative Christians believe the one-world government is a rebellion against God, leading to the Antichrist.

Regardless all religions do not worship the same God, so the push for “Oneness” speaks a questionable volume. credit: believersportal.com

CBN has Just Devalued the Naira against the Dollar

by Leading Reporters January 1, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

Nigerian Naira collapses to N435 against the dollar at the official market.

This is coming as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) adjusted the country’s exchange rate on its website to N413.49/$1 — in what seems to be another devaluation this year.

In May, the apex devalued the naira from N379 to N411 per dollar by adopting the (I&E) window.

Although Godwin Emefiele, governor of the CBN, had dismissed insinuations about naira devaluation, says Nigeria operates a managed-float exchange regime.

A managed float fx regime is when exchange rates fluctuate daily, but central banks attempt to influence the rate by buying and selling currencies to maintain a specific range.

Checks by TheCable showed that the local currency, which opened trading at an indicative price of N420.67 to a dollar, dropped to N435 at the end of Friday’s trading, according to FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange, a platform that oversees foreign-exchange trading in Nigeria.

The naira was quoted as high as N445.50 per dollar during the intra-day trading.Advertisement

Nwanisobi Osita, spokesperson of the CBN, told us that the market determines the exchange rate.

“If you see N413, then that’s what it is. The market determines the rate,” Osita said.

The apex bank has devalued the exchange rate multiple times since March 2020 as it strives to bridge the disparity between the official and parallel market rates.

At the parallel market, the local currency stabled at N570 to a dollar.

by Leading Reporters December 31, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

As the year 2021 comes to an end in few hours, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi has restated the commitment of his management to the campaign to make the nation’s highways safer, urging the staff to remain focused on improved service delivery in justifying the national confidence reposed in the Corps.

The Corps Marshal stated this in his New Year message in which he expressed gratitude to God for the successes recorded by the Corps in the outgoing year, pledging to pursue continuous improvement in traffic management and safety administration in the country.

According to a press release signed by the FRSC Spokesperson, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem over the weekend, the Corps Marshal stated that even though the challenges of 2021 were multifaceted with great risks in which some personnel lost their lives on patrol duties while trying to save others, he enjoined all to remain undeterred in carrying out their statutory obligation of making the road safer for all. The Corps Marshal, according to the statement further expressed satisfaction with the sacrifices made by the staff in saving several lives that could have been perished to road crashes through the vigilance and commitment they have shown, enjoining them to remain more vigilant in the new year

While appreciating the contributions of government at all levels including corporate organisations, NGOs as well strategic stakeholders and individuals for the successes recorded by the FRSC in the outgoing year, Oyeyemi admonished staff not to rest on their oars, saying 2022 will come with its own peculiar challenges which they must overcome in the collective determination to create a safer road environment that could be conducive for social and economic activities.

“You must remain determined to be victorious in all facets of road traffic management and adhere strictly to the processes and procedures enunciated by the Corps to make the organization outstanding in its delivery of road safety to Nigerians” the Corps Marshal stated.

Bisi further disclosed that the FRSC intends to focus on three main goals of crash and fatality reduction, stakeholders partnership and improved data management in 2022 in line with the ongoing global campaign against the menace of road traffic crashes which the United Nations General Assembly is championing. “For the Corps to achieve these strategic goals, all Nigerians must join hands in projecting Nigeria as a nation that’s road safety friendly and has values for human lives,” he further stated.

On the ongoing campaign against the spread of COVID-19 and the new variant omicron, the Corps Marshal assured the nation that as the lead agency for road traffic management and safety administration in the country, the FRSC will remain at the vanguard of the campaign, conscious of its interactions with members of the public who travel from one place to the otter through road transportation system. He therefore urges every personnel of the Corps to always observe all the health protocols and ensure that travelers observe same to reduce incidences of infection through person to person transmission while traveling.

The Corps Marshal further solicited the cooperation of members of the public particularly the road travelers to continue to observe traffic rules and regulations in their return journeys and promptly report cases of road traffic crashes and other emergencies to the Corps for sustained safety in the new year.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the FRSC Call Center will remain open 24/7 through which emergency callers can reach the Corps using either the toll free line: 122 or the studios of the National Traffic Radio on 08056294021 or 08056295022 for prompt response,” Bisi added.

The Corps Marshal wishes all Nigerians good health and prosperous new year.

A groom-to-be, Mr Thomas Obi has been buried on his wedding day, leaving his bride-to-be and both families devastated.
The wedding which was slated for December 30 and 31, in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, had sent both families into mourning after the tragic death of the groom.

Recounting how the incident occurred, a cousin of the deceased identified as George Odok, took to his Facebook page to narrate the painful incident.

He revealed that his late cousin brother had travelled to Calabar to make proper arrangements for the marriage and to pick some valuables needed for the wedding when he got involved in the accident.

According to him, his cousin was the only passenger that died at the spot on December 13.

He wrote: “Oh, dead, why the sudden surface, why did you come now to claim away from the life of my dear first cousin brother, Mr Thomas Obi, a.k.a Majar?

“Your marriage was fixed for Dec. 30th and 31st in Boki, but sadly, it turned out to be your day of eternal rest.
“My dear late cousin brother, you travelled to Calabar to make proper arrangements for the marriage and to pick some valuables needed for the wedding, only for you to be struck by an accident in Nko community in Yakurr LGA, and you were the only passenger that died at the spot on December 13.

“Can we question God for this painful demise? Oh, no, we can’t question God, because he gives and takes according to his divine timetable.

“What about your spouse, who was to wear her wedding gown today to be officially handed over to you in marriage? Oh no, this is a sad one! What about your children, what about your immediate family, extended family, friends and associate? This is one death too painful to behold.

“People have travelled from far and near to attend your wedding, to celebrate with you, to say congratulations on your happy holy matrimony, to watch you kiss your wife, but sadly, with tears in our eyes, we are rather seeing your lifeless corpse.

“Words have failed me, oh dear Majar, I wish we could bring you back to life by neutralising your demise!”

“South-South, South-East Don’t Have A Say If The North Endorses Me”: Tinubu

by Leading Reporters December 13, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

An exclusive report by 247ureporters had quoted Presidential hopeful, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been quoted to have told leaders of thought from the northern part of the country, during a secret meeting with them, that with the North’s support, his proposed Muslim-Muslim ticket would fly despite opposition that may come from Christian dominated South-South and South-East regions.

Tinubu was quoted to have told the Northern power brokers that the only problem he foresees with his proposed Muslim-Muslim ticket is the South West, Yoruba Ethnic people. But he assured them that getting the Yorubas on his side would be just a walk-over.

Addressing some elders of the North some days ago in Abuja at a secret meeting arranged by his long time friend Senator Abu Ibrahim, Tinubu said they should leave the task of convincing the Yoruba to him if selected by his APC party to carry the banner of the party in the 2023 elections.

The issue of who will be his running mate according to our sources became a major issue during the deliberation. They told him flatly they will not accept a Christian northerner to be his running mate.

He was said to have promised to pick a Northwest politician who will be a Muslim. It was then a prominent politician and former governor was said to have asked him how that will be taken in the South.

Tinubu, said our sources , told his guests the South East and South South who are largely Christians will not matter. It is the South West, he was quoted to have said , that could raise issues but he will manage that and they will not mind.

Tinubu , at the meeting was said to have argued that the vote of the North West, North East , some largely Muslim states in the North Central as well as South West were enough to make him President.

“ All I need is your support,” he was quoted as having said. “ Leave the rest to me, I will handle it.” His guests were said not to have been convinced by his assurance as no regime in the country since independence has governed with both head and deputy as Muslims.

It is believed that come February , the party APC , under which he want to seek the office is most certain to pick a Muslim Chairman from the North Central part of the country. Aspirants for this position are already emerging from Niger , Kwara and Nasarawa states . These candidates are all Muslims . If Tinubu therefore emerges as APC candidate and picks a Muslim candidate from the North West it means all of the important positions in the party are held by Muslims to the exclusion of the Christian.

Part of the argument of the pro -Tinubu elements is that this has happened before when the late billionaire Muslim Aare Moshood Abiola selected Alhaji Babagana Kingibe as his running mate . One of the northern leaders present at the meeting said ,while this is true, that time is different from now. There are all manners of tensions in the land and the security of the nation is fragile.

“If anybody does that now it will be like deliberately setting the country on fire. “

“The IPOB issue is still raging in the South East, young elements are restless in the South West” the source in the meeting was quoted to have pressed on Tinubu

Nigeria Govt, Bans airlines from Canada, UK, Saudi Arabia and others into Nigeria from Tuesday

by Leading Reporters December 12, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

The Federal Government is set to restrict airlines coming from Canada, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia into Nigeria from Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Sunday in Lagos, according to NAN.

The government took the decision to reciprocate restricted flights from Nigeria into those countries over the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.

What the minister is saying about travel ban

Sirika stated that countries that placed travel ban on Nigeria due to the Omicron Covid-19 variant lacked a moral right to have their airlines fly into Nigeria on commercial operations.

Sirika said, “President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would also place the United Kingdom, Canada and Saudi Arabia on a red list over the outbreak and spread of the Omicron variant.

“There is also the case of Saudi Arabia that put Nigeria on the ban list. On Sunday, I participated in a meeting with the COVID-19 task force.

“We have given our input that it is not acceptable by us and we recommended that those Nations, Canada, the UK, Saudi Arabia and Argentina also be put on the red list.

“As they did to us, if they do not allow our citizens into their countries; who are they coming, as airlines, to pick from our country? They are not supposed to come in. I am very sure in the next three days; Monday or Tuesday, all those countries will be put on the red list of COVID-19,”

He stressed that airlines of the affected countries remained banned and the countries placed on Nigeria’s red list.

Sirika apologised to Nigerians intending to travel to those countries but said the Nigerian government’s decision was in the interest of the country.

The decision was taken following an increase in the number of cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 across the world. The UK is the third country to impose a travel ban on Nigeria after Canada and Singapore.

Sweden’s Prime Minister-elect resigns hours after appointed

by Leading Reporters November 25, 2021
written by Leading Reporters

Sweden’s Prime Minister-elect Magdalena Andersson on Wednesday (Nov 24) tendered her resignation just hours after her appointment by parliament, after her budget failed to pass and the junior Greens Party left the coalition government.

“There is a constitutional practice that a coalition government should resign when one party quits,” Andersson, a Social Democrat, told reporters.

“I don’t want to lead a government whose legitimacy will be questioned.” Andersson said she hoped to be elected to the position again soon as the head of a minority government made up of only the Social Democrats.

In a turbulent sequence of events, Andersson became the first woman elected to the post of prime minister in Sweden after clinching a last-minute deal with the Left Party to raise pensions in exchange for its backing in Wednesday’s vote.

But the small Centre Party then withdrew its support for Andersson’s budget, due to the concessions made to the Left, leaving her budget with insufficient votes to pass in parliament.

Parliament instead adopted an alternative budget presented by the opposition conservative Moderates, Christian Democrats and far-right Sweden Democrats.

The fatal blow came when Greens leader Per Bolund said his party could not tolerate the opposition’s “historic budget, drafted for the first time with the far-right”, and quit the government.

Among other things, it said the opposition’s planned tax cut on petrol would lead to higher emissions.

Speaker of parliament Andreas Norlen said he had accepted Andersson’s resignation and would contact party leaders before deciding Thursday how to proceed.
