Mr Oseagah who led the team of the board of trustees to the school expressed displeasure at what he described as outright negligence of schools in rural areas by the authorities of the Federal Capital territory.

Addressing newsmen in the organization’s office following inspection of rural schools in FCT, the Chairman, Board of Trustees Light Shedrack said it has become worrisome that FCT administration has continued to cater for schools within the city center, while blatantly neglecting schools and students in rural areas of the federal capital.

He said the school building poses danger to the lives of the pupils even as he said that there are no learning facilities that could aid pupils in their studies.

“From what we saw today, it is obvious that the administration of the Federal capital territory concentrates on schools within the city centers.  We have been visiting schools in rural and isolated areas, and our experience is nothing to write home about.

“Today, we visited the LEA Primary School Kpakpantoshi and what we say was better imagined than experienced.  From dilapidated buildings which pose safety threat to the lives of the pupils, to classrooms without ceilings, writing boards, desks and tables.  The teachers have no enabling and conducive environment to teach.  No library.  No learning aids and materials.  The condition of the pupils could be said to be worse than children in IDP camps. Some of the pupils sit on bare floor to study.  The truth is that those children are exposed to avoidable dangers.

Mr. Shedrack said that the school is one of the schools the organization has enlisted in its ”One-child, One-Book Project” of the organization.  He therefore called on the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory, the senator and honourable members, including the local council authorities representing Kpakpantoshi constituency to hasten to the help of the pupils before the unimaginable happens.

Books Across Borders Initiative is a pro-literacy and skills acquisition advocate group comprising of educationists, authors and other stakeholders in educations and skills acquisition.  The group donates mind-enriching books to schools and pupils in rural and isolated areas in Nigeria.

N5 Trillion Loot: NACAT vows to expose corrupt public officials despite alleged intimidation by DSS

by Leading Reporters January 21, 2023
written by Leading Reporters

An anti-corruption group, the Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NACAT), has said its efforts to trace and recover over N5 Trillion diverted by corrupt public servants is being threatened by the interference of the Directorate of state security, DSS.

NACAT also warned that no government agencies has the power to stop it’s activities however called on the SSS to join the group and President Muhammadu Buhari to end the continuous looting of the country by corrupt public servants.

In a statement, the anti-corruption group said it is currently in court with top directors in Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, NDDC for refusal to furnish it with requests made under the FOIA.

“We have also concluded processes towards filing nine new court cases against top directors too in FERMA, Federal Ministries of Education, Defence, Digital Communication, Police Affairs and Agriculture, NBBRI as well as National Lottery Trust Fund and HYPADDEC, with the EFCC, ICPC, CCB and the supervising ministries as co-defendants. All these are being financed by various companies that our trustees work with.

“We have petitioned various permanent secretaries which includes one of those in the State House to the EFCC and ICPC. They have currently been invited by the EFCC and ICPC after our adoption of the petitions.

“We recall that we have also written a petition to the SSS to investigate an influential permanent secretary who invited us in what we suspect to be an inducement discussion, which we declined, after we requested for his CCB details under the FOIA, to confirm what we have in our investigations against him. Till date, we are yet to get a feedback on the petition from the SSS.”

According to the statement made available to Leadingreporters.com, the group said it has also dragged the SSS before the Federal High Court in Suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/85/2023 for infringement of their fundamental human rights.

Narrating their ordeal, the group said,

“On 13th January 2023, NACAT Director of Legal & Operations, Barrister Justice Ojefia was invited via call by the FCT Command of the SSS the same day. As a law abiding, he honoured the invitation in less than one hour. While at the command, one of the officials, Mr Etuk told him that our NGO is among those being profiled, to be sure that we do not use it to fund terrorism. After filling all the necessary forms and taking finger prints, including photocopies or all our NGO documents and his call to bar certificate, he left them, only to be told to come with his International Passport which he went with on 23rd January 2023.

“After making photocopies of it, the officer opened up to him that the National Security Adviser (NSA) wrote to them to investigate NACAT for writing letters to public office holders under the Freedom of Information Act, requesting for copies of their Code of Conduct Bureau Assets Declaration forms. Our legal director told them clearly that it is within our right and mandate as an NGO to write such letters to anyone paid by the tax payers, and that includes the SSS, which they affirmed.

“They requested that we furnish them all the letters we have written to public servants, EFCC, ICPC and CCB, an action our NGO Director of Legal vehemently kicked against. We had written last year to the SSS, EFCC, ICPC and CCB to collaborate with us of which only the EFCC and ICPC invited us for discussion and collaboration towards the fight against corruption and trafficking.

“Curiously, they directed that he come to their office with the Director of Investigation on 25th January. The Director of Investigation who is also a trustee of NACAT offered to appear the same 23rd, which he went. After waiting for hours to see the SSS officials with the legal director, they had to leave the command back to the office.

“Since then, the same command has been calling our office line and harassing the staff carrying out their duties to inform the trustees to appear before the command.

“NACAT believes that the Director General of the SSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi is not aware of these actions of the FCT Command. This will not be the first time that the command will invite NGOs who investigated public office holders and are subtly threatened to back off such investigations.

“NACAT believes strongly that the NSA did not mandate the FCT command of the SSS to single out our NGO best known for investigating civil servants, for profiling, when we are not a terrorist group or committed economic sabotage or threat to national security.

“NACAT believes that some of those whom we have written to requesting for their CCB forms, out of fear of being exposed has seen a willing tool in the FCT Command, hoping to use them to silence us from following their trails. The public servants who have amassed illegal wealth are always afraid to go the the SSS headquarters as such matters are not entertained there.

“The SSS duties are clearly spelt out and it does not include meddling in civil matters, such as NGOs that are merely helping the government fight societal menace.

“There are over 1500 top civil servants on NACAT radar who have diverted over N5 trillion in the last eleven years using their companies and we will not stop until we fish them out, investigate and report them to the appropriate authorities or go to court if need be.”

NACAT said it will not be cowed, coerced, threatened, intimidated, blackmailed, compromised or called to order by anybody to stop requests under the FOIA or back off the investigation of corrupt public servants and send petitions to EFCC, ICPC and CCB, except Mr President decides otherwise.

“We are all joint owners of Nigeria working together to redeem the country from corrupt elements.

“The SSS should be reminded that a Chief Judge of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen left his exalted position as Nigeria’s number 5 citizen after his expose by an NGO that he didn’t declare some particular bank accounts in his CCB form.

“NACAT calls on the SSS to join us and President Muhammadu Buhari who has consistently insisted that he has a mandate to fight corruption before he leaves office, instead of becoming pliable hands against the movement to leave a less corrupt free Nigeria for upcoming generations.”

Najatu Mohammed dumps Tinubu, resigns from APC

by Leading Reporters January 21, 2023
written by Leading Reporters

She said that recent developments in the country had made it difficult for her to continue participating in partisan politics and accused the party of wickedness against the Nigerian people.

Najatu Mohammed has resigned her membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and announced her withdrawal from partisan politics.

Ms Mohammed also resigned from the APC presidential council campaign, where she had been the director of civil society engagement.

Her resignation was communicated in a letter addressed to the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu.

She indicated that recent developments in the country’s political landscape had made it difficult for her to continue participating in partisan politics.

“In line with article 9.5 (i) of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I am writing to you to intimate you of my resignation from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

“I am by this letter also informing you of my resignation as the Director of the Civil Society directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC.

“The challenges that Nigeria faces today require me to continue championing the struggle for a better country with a clear conscience as I remain absolutely loyal to my dear country Nigeria,” her letter read.

Ms Mohammed also said in a statement released on Saturday that she was leaving party politics because the mainstream parties lacked an ideological foothold that distinguished them from one another.

She contended that the parties’ lack of ideological thought in their conduct and programs reduced them to mere tools that served the interests of politicians rather than the people.

“After much reflection and careful consideration, I have decided to part ways with party politics. I have come to the realization that my values and beliefs no longer align with party politics.

“Our political parties have no ideological differences and are simply robes that politicians wear to serve their personal needs and interests at any given time. As a result of which, we see politicians changing from one robe to another whenever it suits them.

“What is important at this point in time is the individual wearing the robe and not the robe itself.

She said that going forward, she would be “committed to supporting individuals that are truly interested in addressing the root causes of our challenges as a nation.

“To remain true to such commitments, one must be willing to take bold and decisive steps,” she added.

“Obidient” youths block reckless truck driver for destroying LP Billboard; Demand replacement

by Leading Reporters January 18, 2023
written by Leading Reporters

The “Obident” movement euphoria took a new dimension yesterday, along Aba road Umuahia, when youths accosted a reckless truck driver who destroyed a mini-billboard displaying Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti. The incident, according to an eyewitness account occurred around 6.00 pm yesterday at Standpol, Aba Road Umuahia.

The driver of the truck who identified himself simply as Iyke was said to be drunk and recklessly abandoned a major road for a shorter route.  He was said to have ripped off a part of the billboard with the truck’s tipping bucket.  The youths who forced him to a stop did not only ask him to replace the torn billboard, but they insisted that he would remain with them until they were sure that he was no longer under the influence of alcohol.

Trouble started when the driver upon destroying the billboard attempted to speed off.  The youths were said to have blocked him and insisted that he would fix the billboard.

The said billboard is believed to be the communal effort of some “Obident” followers living within the vicinity.

At the time of filing this report, the driver, upon realizing that the youths were serious about their demands surrendered and accepted to fix the billboard, while apologizing for his deeds.

A nearby welder was brought to brace the billboard before the driver was let off the hook by the youths who echoed “Obident victory” chant.

Corrupt CBN Deputy Governor Adamu Lametek schemes to replace Emiefele: Holds secret meetings with power brokers

by Leading Reporters January 18, 2023
written by Leading Reporters

That the times are rough for the Central Bank Governor Godwin Emiefele is not in doubt.  Aside from being on the radars of Nigeria’s secret police on allegations of terrorism financing, his closest associates are already selling out in a bid to drown him and take over the mantle of leadership in the apex bank.  At the fore of this betrayal journey, according to information unveiled LeadingReporters is Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu.

Information unearthed by LeadingReporters revealed that Mr. Lametek had previously retired from the Central Bank of Nigeria.  However, the Central Bank Governor Godwin Emiefele, in a bid to retain him rushed to President Muhammadu Buhari upon Lametek’s retirement and urged the President to extend a political appointment to Mr. Adamu as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.  A request, President Muhammadu Buhari granted him.

Our findings however revealed that the retention of Mr. Adamu is in violation of the Nigeria Civil Service circular dated 27th July, 2009, Ref No. HCSF/EMS/EIR/B.63694/T2/96 with the subject “INTERPRETATION OF PUBLIC SERVICE RULES ON COMPULSORY RETIREMENT AGE/YEARS OF SERVICE IN RELATION TO TENURED APPOINTMENT OF the SERVICE OFFICERS.

The circular stated that career officers who have not retired or choose not to retire from service, before the commencement of their tenured appointment must leave office on the attainment of the mandatory AGE/YEAR of service for retirement.

Investigation launched by concerned Nigerians revealed that Lametek upon retirement was paid all his entitlements and retirements benefits, despite staying put in office.  He attained the age of 60 on the 22nd of June, 2019 and did not exit office before being appointed a Deputy Governor of CBN.

Between 15th of March, 2018 and 6th of November, 2018, Mr Lametek received N645,546,983 as part of his severance package, through his GTBank Account No 0023956749. Till date, Mr. Adamu has been in the employ of CBN collecting all entitlement and waiting for another severance package and entitlement at the expiration of his tenure as deputy governor.

Other allegations of corruption are that Adamu Lametek sits on the board of other private companies, which is contrary to the Code of Conduct Act (CCB&T Act, 5th Schedule, Part 1, Paragraph 1-11 to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which specifically bars civil and public servants from engaging in professions, trade and other enterprises that puts his activities against his official duties.  One of the companies is ELAD CONSULTS LTD.  The company, according to an investigation has been used for activities that contravene the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Confusion: APC, Tinubu, Presidency Rejects Bauchi APC Guber Candidate

Confusion: APC, Tinubu, Presidency Rejects Bauchi APC Guber Candidate

by Leading Reporters December 20, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

The political scene in the north east geopolitical place of Nigeria seems unsettling specifically for the All Progressive Congress [APC] in the Bauchi State in opposition to the gubernatorial contest. Information reachable us suggests the presidency working in tandem with the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu have taken the choice to flip away from the gubernatorial tussle in Bauchi State.

As gathered, the said decision was taken by key personalities within the presidency following the inauspicious stance taken by the APC candidate – Sadiq in his inability and/or unwillingness to carry along party members following his victory at the party primaries – where it was reported delegate votes were purchased at price tag as high as N1.5million each.

Particularly, the soured relationship between the federal minister of education – Adamu Adamu and the APC gubernatorial candidate – Sadiq is reported as the major cause.

Confusion: APC, Tinubu, Presidency Rejects Bauchi APC Guber Candidate

Reliable sources indicate that Sadiq was not the original choice of Adamu Adamu – who was considered the leader of the party in Bauchi State. His choice to fly the party banner was Dr Musa Babayo – the former deputy national secretary of the People Democratic Party [PDP]. Unfortunate for Adamu Adamu, Babayo failed to score enough vote to win. He took the fourth position behind Alhaji Nura Manu Soro and Halliru.

Upon victory, the relationship which was not too great to begin with took a nose dive. A close APC ally to Sadiq revealed that Sadiq’s victory at the APC primary brought out his true personality and intentions. Sadiq took the victory and striped all of the Adamu Adamu followers from the campaign council, he also striped all of the followers of the two Senators from the State. As a result, the Senators and Adamu Adamu and other leaders of the party in Bauchi State were left with little option than to fight back.

As starters, Adamu Adamu initiated a move to remove Sadiq as the head [Director General] of the APC presidential campaign in Bauchi State – and to replace him with either Dr Musa Babayo or Alh Nura Manu Soro. Adamu Adamu submitted his wish officially to the APC presidential candidate – and it Is believe Tinubu is receptive to the request. It remains uncertain whether the name of Sadiq will be removed.

Meanwhile, Sadiq has been reported to relentlessly been seeking private audience with the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu. But sources reveal that Tinubu has refused to grant him audience. Instead, Tinubu was reported as asking him to come with the APC Senators in the State. Sadiq has not been able to draw the Senators to accompany him to go see Bola Tinubu.

Interesting enough, at the last meeting with Tinubu in mid-November 2022 when Sadiq accompanied other APC chieftains from across the country to Tinubu’s home in Abuja, the meeting was reported to have not ended well for Sadiq. His followers who were gathered outside the premises of the meeting were reported to be shouting abuses and angry words at the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu. It was not certain what was the cause of their anger.

Confusion: APC, Tinubu, Presidency Rejects Bauchi APC Guber Candidate

But cursory inquiry points to Tinubu’s and the presidency’s decision to virtually “forfeit” the Bauchi APC governorship seat as the probable cause of the anguish by the supporters of Sadiq. Since the outburst at the home of Tinubu, Sadiq has been running from pillar to post looking for how to meet with Tinubu face to face. To no avail.

The APC gubernatorial campaign in Bauchi has thus suffered a major setback owing the recent development. Many within the Bauchi north senatorial district where the APC gubernatorial candidate claims to hail from, are reported to be gravely unhappy with him owing to his distant relationship with region in the past. “He has never belonged to us. We don’t know him.” Credit 247ureports.com

Tinubu & Obi: Reconsider your campaign posture

Tinubu & Obi: Reconsider your campaign posture

by Leading Reporters November 15, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on September 28, 2022, formally gave an approval signal to all political parties and their candidates to embark on electioneering campaign for the 2023 general elections.

We are now in the seventh week of campaigns, but most political parties are yet to make any impact in explaining their manifestos to the public. The mundane scheme of renting a crowd for rallies is what appears to be occupying the attention of our politicians. Painfully, messages delivered at rallies and processions are characterized by merrymaking, acrobatic displays and political violence making it difficult for people to easily assimilate whatever is said at such venues.

While the abolition of rallies may not be directly advocated because they too produce unique results, rallies should not be used to discard other strategies particularly debates and public enlightenment. All candidates must spend ample time to explain their manifestos for voters to easily identify who can best represent them.

Although there have been interactive sessions with some interest groups, political broadcasts through radio and television that are designed to breakdown the promises of the candidates to the understanding of all and sundry using mass media organs ought to be prioritized in line with current global realities.

The preference for rallies is not surprising though because as history tells us, many  candidates seeking to be elected into political offices are either personally unfit or have no viable programmes to present to the public. Understandably therefore, it is getting clearer that debates which are the most potent of all political broadcasts may not hold in Nigeria this year.

Instead, our political parties are more comfortable with simple straight party talks which are never interrogated. This is because Nigerian politicians detest debates which clearly bring out visionary and knowledge-driven candidates. It has been so since 1999, as one candidate or the other gives some flimsy excuses for declining to participate.

For example, the nation waited in vain for the candidate of the then ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 to participate in organized Presidential debates. The 2011 edition, took the format of drama as 3 of the candidates appeared in one debate at one platform while the then President Goodluck Jonathan undertook a one-man debate in his preferred platform. In 2019, the candidates of the two major parties including the incumbent president did not show up.

Already, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, organizers of this year’s debates have cancelled the event. The group in an official statement said it took the decision after “a critical assessment of events surrounding recent engagements with the presidential candidates as well as subsequent statements from political parties.”

The APC had indicated during the week that its flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu might not honour invitations for debates with other candidates. In reaction, the Labour Party said its candidate, Peter Obi will no longer show up for debates if his counterparts in the other parties are not forthcoming. Certainly, Nigeria should frown at the continuation of such a retrogressive disposition.

We cannot claim to be running the presidential system of government fashioned after the American type and be avoiding political debates which the same American system have shown to be the best way to compare contestants.

In fact, the United States of America has a long history of political broadcasts; the presidential debate serving as the most popular. The practice is that three days are set aside before any presidential election for the candidates contesting the election to engage one another in a series of debates.

The debates are usually broadcast LIVE to the nation on Radio and Television. As far back as 1960, when Nigeria was only just becoming an independent country, America could boast of exciting presidential debates.  Candidate John F. Kennedy who won the American election of that year, achieved the feat because of what was generally believed to be his superior performance over his rival, Richard Nixon during the debates. Some 62 years later, Nigeria is still unable to guarantee a presidential debate because some of the candidates are anxious to cover-up some deficiencies.

Of all the parties, the APC appears to be the greatest culprit in this game of dodging debates. This is surprising because from what I knew of Tinubu when I had cause to relate with him while I ran the NTA, he was quite proactive. Why is APC shielding him from the debates? One can only hope that some ‘eye-service’ officials are not as usual doing a disservice to the man.

I recall during the Jonathan years when I ran into a forum where his officials, aides etc. spent ample time convincing him to not attend the 2015 debate simply because they believed it would give an opportunity to all other contestants to rudely relate to the then president during a debate. From my experience as an election observer across jurisdictions, I can testify that each time a candidate is absent from a debate, the conclusion of the audience is that such candidate has something to hide. This is why I call on Tinubu today to listen to the voice of a few of his admirers who support debates and use the opportunity to engage with voters. The story out there that Tinubu intends to ignore his opponents who are said to be wasting their time discussing rumours about him is a puerile route.

I recommend to the APC candidate and indeed all his fellow presidential contestants that information is power and communication is empowerment. I also call on the PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar to take advantage of the presidential debates to dwell more on his lofty promises such as his plan to strengthen ECOMOG to effectively patrol Nigerian borders and promptly halt invaders who are the alleged champions of insurgency in Nigeria.

One successful political debate is better than 5 rallies and 5 chats with some interest groups combined. As a result, candidates should displace other engagements for the debate. After all, organizers are expected to find a convenient date for all before fixing it. PDP should desist from sending a representative to whatever is called a presidential media forum as it did to the Arise Town hall meeting. And because there would also be a vice presidential forum, the running mate cannot be at all events. In any case, Arise and partners should not have allowed the representation.

In the case of the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, many people appear to easily reason with his new stand of not attending debates where some of his colleagues are absent. But that protocol is only good for an office-holder and not for a candidate. Having used all the events, he attends to underscore his visible competence, it would be self-stabbing for him to shoot down his strength. It is for this reason that he too needs to revisit his decision to shun any debate.

Again, it is expedient to say to all candidates that some of us and our few friends and families will not in this modern age vote for anyone who does not see the importance of persuading and convincing us about his capacity to change Nigeria’s stunted growth. We dare say that lovers of issue-based campaigns and persuasive manifestos are not as few as is usually imagined in Nigeria. Of course, candidates who will not engage in issue-based campaigns will be the very first suspects wherever there are reports of political violence at rallies or cases of vote buying and rigging of elections.

In all that has been said above in favour of political debates, Nigeria still needs to depart from the obsolete order where party attack-dogs in the name of spokespersons attack their party’s opponents. Debates should no longer be venues for abuses and every form of intemperate language. Rather, everyone must be allowed to explain what he wants to do for the country. It is the failure of Nigerians to insist on decent political debates that has made it impossible over the years for the nation to pick visionary leaders who can implement viable programmes and remove Nigeria from underdevelopment.

Zambia Student Serving Prison Term in Russia Dies at Ukrainian Battlefront

by Leading Reporters November 15, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

Zambia is seeking answers from Russia after a Zambian student who was serving a prison sentence in Russia ended up dying at the battlefront in Ukraine.

Nathan Lemekhani Nyirenda, 23, was serving a nine-year prison sentence in Russia after being convicted of drug possession in 2020.

But Zambia’s Foreign Minister Stanely Kakubo, at a Monday news conference, said the government was informed on November 9 that Nyirenda had died at the battlefront in Ukraine.

“The Zambian government has requested the Russian authorities to urgently provide information on the circumstances under which a Zambian citizen serving a prison sentence in Moscow could have been recruited to fight in Ukraine and subsequently lose his life.”

Zambia’s Foreign Ministry says it learned that Nyirenda died on September 22 in Ukraine and that his remains were taken to the Russian border town of Rostov to be sent back to Zambia.

Kakubo, who said he visited Nyirenda’s family, said will communicate more details once the Russian authorities provide more information on the circumstances of his death.

Nyirenda was studying nuclear engineering at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute before his conviction.

As Russia has struggled in its war against Ukraine, reports from Russia indicate authorities have been recruiting troops from prisons.

Gov Soludo’s Son Distance Self From His Father’s Claims On Obi

by Leading Reporters November 15, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s dismissal of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition is still a trending topic in Nigeria the Anambra state governor wrote a long article highlighting why he thinks Obi won’t win the 2023 presidential election Soludo’s verbal attack on Obi seems to not have his backing of his son, Ozonna, who insists that Obi is the best presidential candidate ahead of 2023.

Ozonna Soludo has declared that Peter Obi of the Labour Party is the best presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections. The 28-year old UK-based artiste made the comment on Facebook in response to a social media post criticizing his father for opposing Obi’s presidential ambition. Ozonna Soludo said Peter Obi is the best candidate despite his father’s stance.

Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday, November 14 openly dismissed Obi’s presidential ambition saying he won’t win. Ozonna says he does not want to be dragged into politics, but stated clearly that he prefers Obi to other candidates.

The Anambra state governor also alleged that poverty grew to astronomical levels in Anambra under Obi’s watch. The comment by Soludo triggered angry reactions from ‘Obidients’ – supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate. While an attempt was made to drag Ozonna into the conversation, he stated that his opinion is different from that of his father. His words: “I would appreciate not being dragged into this. I am not an extension of anybody.

I have my own opinions and have always said I think Peter is the best candidate. All this has nothing to do with me.” Peter Obi’s purported investments are worth next to nothing – Soludo Recall that Soludo recently said the investments made by Obi, when the presidential candidate of the Labour Party was Anambra state’s chief executive is worth next to nothing at the moment.

Strong reasons emerge on why Peter Obi is yet to release his manifesto When asked his perspective on government investing outside the public sector with reference to Obi as former governor in Anambra, Soludo said the value of those investments are now worth next to nothing. 2023: It’ll be miracle of the century if Peter Obi wins, says Mamora Meanwhile, the minister of state for health, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora has discarded the chances of Obi winning the 2023 presidential election. According to Mamora, Obi’s candidacy is synonymous with independent candidacy in America which has never produced a president.

Terror Alerts: Update The Police, Not General Public – IGP Tells Foreign Governments

by Leading Reporters October 30, 2022
written by Leading Reporters

The Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman, has said the recent security alert should have been given to the police and not to the members of the public, while urging that the police are on top of the situation.

The United States and United Kingdom governments had released security alert, warning their citizens to steer clear of Abuja because of planned terrorist attack.

earlier today reported that multinational construction company, Julius Berger, closed down its operations in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The decision was sequel to the terror alert released by the United States government and the United Kingdom (UK), advising their citizens against travelling to Abuja.

It subsequently, urged citizens who are staying in Abuja to find a way to leave the city and those intending to come to Abuja to shelve the plan.

IGP on Saturday while inaugurating a modern police station and barracks in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, reacted to the terror alert, according to PUNCH.

He said, “How can you enter the country and said there is security alert, you didn’t inform police, and you go around telling your people; don’t go to Abuja, return from Abuja.

“When you have information on security, it is proper to inform the police and we will find way to tackle it, instead of taking it to the public.

“I am urging media not to help them spread such information. We are working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents”

On the structure, IGP said the modern police stations and barracks had been built across six geo-political zones.

He urged the community to take ownership of the projects, noting that they were built with public money and they should protect it.

He appealed to them not to vandalize the edifice when having issue with the police, saying that the station will have a CCTV camera that will cover at least 2km.

The Commissioner of police, Delta State, Ali Mohammed, commended the IGP for the edifice and other giant strides since assumption of office.

He said that the gesture would not only motivate for better performance but would also help in mitigating their challenges.
