The Nigeria Senate says that the 2017 Budget would be passed on May 9. This was made known through a letter written it by the Senate Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe Central which was read in the plenary by Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawal.
He stated that both the upper and the lower houses of the National Assembly are doing the needful to harmonize the budget to enable easy passage of the Budget by the President.
This according to him was to avoid mistakes of the past where Budgets are sent to the President for assent only for to be returned leading to rounds of argument and resentments.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu on his part urged Nigerians to be patient so that all the necessary things would be done to avoid further delay when it is eventually sent to the President for assent.
