We’re well pleased with Senator Aduda’s scholarship, other pro-peoples’ initiatives – CFIA

The scholarship awarded to over 600 Abuja Indigenes to study in different tertiary institutions, cutting across all the Area Councils in FCT, initiated and being executed by Distinguished Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda (MFR) has been described as second to none by the leadership of Coalition of Federal Capital Territory Indigenous Association.

Speaking to LeadingReporters, the spokesperson of the group Comrade Yusuf A. Yunusa on behalf of the association described the scholarship scheme by Distinguished Senator Aduda as unprecedented and timely; coming at a time when it has been generally accepted that an educated populace is a productive populace.

“Education and vocation are the bedrock of every successful society and every booming economy.  Prior to this time, we have been described as predominantly farmers.  Senator Aduda has upped the game by telling us that if we must be farmers, we must be educated and enlightened farmers.  He has demonstrated it through this scholarship scheme”.

The group use the opportunity to appeal to other representatives whether elected or appointed to prioritize the welfare of the indigenes in a view to empowering them.

“We need more Adudas who have the will power to push for the good of the people. When you see us speak up, we are not after individuals.  We are after policies that will better the lots of the indigenes.  If we elect you to represent us, please do so selflessly as though your life and the success of your political career depend on it.  Put the welfare of the people in the front burner.  Let the people feel the impact of governance”

Describing the scholarship as unparalleled in the history of FCT, the group said that the indigenes would remain grateful to Distinguished Senator Aduda for this gesture among other pro-peoples’ initiatives which he has brought to the doorstep of the people he represents.

The group challenged the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory, elected members of Federal House of Representatives and Area Council Chairmen to copy the good deeds of Senator Aduda and bring the beauty of democracy down to the reach of ordinary people.

“We wish Senator Aduda well.  We pray for him.  We are eternally grateful that this is coming at a time it is most needed.  This singular effort of our Senator has taken off a lot of burden from the shoulders of the parents of the beneficiary-students.  We call on the Minister, the other Representatives in the Federal House of Representatives and the Council Chairmen to prioritize the welfare of the people in their policies”.

The Scholarship Award giving ceremony holds today, 6th April at Garki Resettlement Town Hall, Abuja from 10am.
