In what looks like a glaring opportunity to hit back at his colleagues after suffering a backlash that led to his being ousted as Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South has asked his colleagues not to throw the allegations made on the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and Senator Dino Maleya by an online media platform to the winds.
Taking recourse to Senate Order 14 and 15, Senator Ali Ndume asked his colleagues to investigate the allegations that the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki purchased a bullet proof jeep without paying the necessary and appropriate duties and levies leading to the impoundment of the vehicle by the Nigeria Customs Service.
In the same vein, Senator Ndume asked his colleagues to extend scimitar of justice to Senator Dino Melaya representing Kogi West by probing the allegation that Senator Dino’s does not have the first degree certificate he brandishes as claimed by Sahara Reporters.
It would be recalled that Senator Ali Ndume was controversially removed as a Senate Majority leader in what could be termed an ‘in-house coup’ the very day the Senate resumed from recess.
Although Senator Ali has long accepted his fate, he however believes that hand of justice should be extended to both the Senate President, Dr. Bukolo Saraki and the Senate Committee Chairman on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye.
The issue was referred to the Senate’s Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate and report back to it within four weeks.
